Hey Lathe list- I have a favor to ask those on the list who release,
collect or buy lathe records done by Peter King out of New Zealand.
I will be doing an update of the Lathe Universe site within the next
few weeks and I don't get a whole lot of input on records people have
released that have been cut by Mr. King. Peter sends me packages now
and again with his test records but to be honest, it would be very
helpful if the community that is involved with this subculture would
help me with the site.
If you have released a lathe record, can you check the site and see if
your record is listed and if not provide me with the following
information.
Artist Name -
Title -
Size of record (5", 7", 8", 9", 10", 12") and shape (if it's a
specially shaped record)
Label releasing the record
Label catalog number (if it has one)
Also, if you collect or have bought a record or records and have the
time, please take a look at the discography and see if there is
anything I'm missing and let me know the information above.
If looking over the site is too time consuming, you can just email me
what you have or have released and I can sort it out.
While I'd love for people to send me their releases when they come
out, I'd really just like people in the scene to clue me into what's
being released. I get a lot of enthusiastic response from people who
enjoy the site, but to be honest, only a few kind people have even let
me know when they've released records and a much smaller few have
mailed copies of their releases.
I will continue to periodically update the site and while I'm not
really in the financial position to buy what's coming out, a heads up
is always appreciated.
Here is the Lathe Universe site (it also features a New Zealand
Underground discographies archive):

Also, to end this with a bit of usuary, I have just 3 things on ebay
currently, the most relevant to this list is this early C/Psi/P
cassette (there's also an early Mountain Goats tape):
Item 250396144320: Dr. Gretchen’s Musical Weightlifting Program- Hambu
Nights cassette (Celebrate Psi Phenomenon)
This is John Olson from Wolf Eyes and American Tapes circa 1999 on
Campbell Kneale's label.
