Mr. King called last week to update pricing on the Lathe Universe
website. It has been updated today with current pricing and shipping
rates. It is a really good time to do lathe records as the NZ dollar
is down to just over 50 cents US (sorry about that New Zealand), that
means you'll be able to do a run of 20 for just over $70 plus
shipping. At those prices you'll be able to send one to me and make
all the work I put into the site worthwhile...woo hoo!

Happy valentines day.
Mudboy has returned from Europe, alive and well.
More or less with the exception of the Swedish eyeball disease which
has lingered, as you might suspect- ON THE EYES.

For you viewing enjoyment There is a new mudvideo featuring the
muppets of "The Muppet Show" fame- in a banned video released by the
CBC in Canada.
It features among other things the violent removal of Kermits' arms
and Gonzo's head in a remake of the Wizard of OZ.
it now appears on Youtube with a new soundtrack recorded on location
in OZ with mudboy(US) Dracula Lewis (Italy) and the Fear You Can Hear
(Elsewhere) Until the Henson family has it removed.
Enjoy.

All Violet
All Violet is a collaboration between Scott Allison (sc.all) & Jeff
Surak (Violet). Two live sets recorded October 3, 2004 at the 804noise
Festival in Richmond, Virginia and February 6, 2005 at Electric
Possible, George Washington University, Washington DC. Instruments
used: record player, autoharp, prepared speakers, field recordings,
lloopp, rocks, foil, flotsam, jetsam, etc.

Blue Sausage Infant - Scapels for the Animal God
BLUE SAUSAGE INFANT is the work of Chester Hawkins of Washington DC.
The sound of BSI lives somewhere in the space between noise and
psychedelia, using a mixture of electronics, toys, and conventional
instruments. The result stumbles between delicate ambience,
krautrock-flavored trance music, and harsh brutalism.

the show is so amazing. At the end you will find a list of all
these people. It is a long list with more then 185 names.Thank to all of

I will also thank the people who did a live session in the FM Brussel studio for
my show. Thanks to Al Margolis, Tom Brosseau, Z'EV, Hati , Robert Curgenven ,
Preston Smirnoff, Ilya Monosov and Kria Brekkan. The last 3 will be broadcasted

Hi,

Hereby the playlist 275 of Sounds and Emotions.

"Experimental music for experimental people"

This week with a live session at FM Brussel of Robert Curgenven solo and also
together with Hati

   Robert Curgenven
Working with harmonics, textures and resonance as articulated not only
through instruments/objects, in space and place, but also in time and the
dislocation of the remote, Curgenven's sound explores slowly shifting layers in
the fabric of fields of perception. Creating vast landscapes from carefully
detailed recordings through to immersive resonances via deft manipulations of
sound pressure - his old school background is evident in his working by hand
without a computer. Playing in a variety of contexts from pure field recordings
to instrumental harmonics and feedback - described by one audience member as
like a punch in the face while elsewhere flowers bloomed.
He has lived for much of the past eight years in Australia's Northern
Territory, working in small towns and remote locations in radio, health and the
arts as well as auspicing and directing Sounds Unusual - NT Festival for New
Music. Since the beginning of 2008 he has relocated to Europe, based in Berlin
and Milan.
Curgenven returned to performing live and improvised music in 2004 and has
since played at events throughout Australia and Europe, including Transmediale
(Berlin), Gallery for Contemporary Art (Leipzig), Headphone festival

he has exhibited in Darwin, Sydney, Berlin, Koln, Joachimstal and Fremantle.
a gentle audio suspension of time. This is the kind of subtlety that really
works, becoming an almost total transference of realities.
 Furthernoise (UK), 2006
Curgenven makes the point that sounds are fundamental to our perception of
the world and significant to notions of the familiar and our sensing of
otherness. The complex micro and meso-structure of these field recordings
included familiar sounds as well as more all-encompassing sound events evoking
specific places. Our ability to completely hear the complexities of a place and
time is intersected by memories of the familiar which are in turn displaced and
transformed.

   Hati

Hati (Rafal Iwanski and Darek Wojtas) is a musical project from Poland
(Torun) based on acoustic instrument sounding. The instruments they use are
acoustic, namely traditional (ethnic) acoustic instruments and hand-made
instruments or objects not necessarily meant for creating music. They also use
electronic equipments. Key words for Hati are: trance, rhythm and sound. Hati
connects a person's interest in modern music, and ritual and meditation music
from all over the world.

"Recently, it has been the most interesting Polish group experimenting with
acoustic sounding. They create their own constructions and use the exotic
instrumentation in an intriguing way." (Jarecki)

Title: Robert Frank & The Moon
Format: BOOKLET and CDR
Label: Carbon Records
Price: $8.00
Catalog ID: CR175
The short story Robert Frank & The Moon written by David Merulla began
as a title written in one of David's notebooks and then continued to
reappear in subsequent notebooks and on various scraps of paper.
David's affinity for the Swiss photographer Robert Frank plays a
subliminal part in seeing the story through however the story is more
about memory, shapes and origami. The companion soundtrack ep is an
instrumental music recording by Autumn in Halifax & The Leaves, meant
to be listened to while reading the story, however can also be enjoyed
by itself. The ep was recorded live to two track at the Wolf Den,
Rochester, New York by Joe Tunis, mixed by Chris Reeg & David Merulla.
Autumn in Halifax & The Leaves is David Merulla, Scott Oliver, Chris
Reeg and Joe Tunis. [package include a 5x7 booklet with pro-printed
cover, silkscreened cdr and silkscreened kraft stay-flat envelope]

Artist: Bjerga / Iversen
Title: (Go With The Flow) Like a Twig on the Shoulders of a Mighty
Stream
Format: CD
Label: Carbon Records
Price: $8.00
Catalog ID: CR178
.. that is kinda what Bjerga/Iversen have been doing, since the humble
beginnings 4 years ago.. After more than 50 releases and about the
same number of gigs since then, it is perhaps somewhat of a
contradiction that its all more or less just as humble.

Thanks to its piercing frequencies, paranoid multitasking, mantra-
like grooves and billowing fields of feedback, this record represents
both one of the last bastions of true Punk and a 21st century take on
the Krautrock spirit. It is the kind of music that would have your
parents worried if you listened to it alone in your room. It is also,
in a way, the exact opposite of what you would associate with the
Norwegians just by reading about them. If this is a best-of, then its
probably the least representative in the world.

This CD collects some choice cuts and edits from our now quite
(stupidly) extensive recorded catalogue.. It might not be an easy task
to single out the best moments, which would sort of be beside the
point anyway.. In a way its all the same song, the song that never
ends.. We tap on to the frequency, and sometimes the psychedelic
transmissions are seeping through like burning sunlight on
technicolored drops of water and other times the harrowing, fleshy
minimalism of solitary organ notes and foggy feedback overtones dig
out deeper, darker furrows in uncharted territories.

Aeoga - Zenith Beyond The Helix-Locus (7inch) - Aural Hypnox $8.00
"From beyond the mundane symbolscape, the 2nd album of Aeoga -
entitled 'Zenith Beyond the Helix-Locus' - emits aural phenomena from
devouring multi-layered elemental ambience to amorphous and
hallucinatory sequences entrancing one's awareness thoroughly. The
fifteen formations manifest themselves in various forms; bright and
luminous helixes intertwine with shadowed and shapeless non-beings.
All in all truly overwhelming material where acoustic instruments and
electronic equipment mingle themselves to channel forth the aural
elemental current. (total time: 67:11) Comes in an oversized 4 panel
cardboard covers. Limited to 1000 copies."

Arktau Eos - Mirrorion (CD) - Aural Hypnox $12.00
"Presented in seventeen chapters that can be approached as singular
gateways or a slowly unfolding journey of epic proportions, the debut
album of ARKTAU EOS is a challenging, complex work. Born of intense
private musico-magical sessions held in places abandoned by man and
further refined in the temple-laboratory of the duo, it is the
distillation of seven arduous months of work. As the title suggests,
'Mirrorion' is the music of stellar light thrown down from the
Heaven's zenith and its eldritch reflections in the depths below,
uniting atavistic elemental noise with serene passages of crystalline,
spectral ambience. Ultimately, 'Mirrorion' seeks to surpass such
earthly definitions in favour of a non-dual vision of reality,
hopefully transforming the listener in the process. For this recording
ARKTAU EOS have favoured an organic approach with majority of
instrumentation being of acoustic variety, including the unearthly
choral of the kanglings, piercings blasts of windbones,
accelerating steel-plate rolls, singing bowl and various kinds of
stringed instruments. Comes in an six-panel, A5 booklet. Limited to
1000 copies."

Black to Comm / Datashock - CDR w/ video (CDR) - Ikuisuus $6.00
"Incredible, spooky-spiritual-drone masterpiece by the most hip German
experimentalists Black to Comm (Mark Richter) and the free-noise group
Datashock companied by new member Marcel Trkowsky. Here all together
creating a flavor of blissen alien soundscapes, whirling on, changing
and evolving all the time, generating hyperzonic tensions inside the
crown-chakra so long that the eyes start to see pulsating flames
inside and outside your imagination. Rich in Colour of sound and for
sure not a restless headfuck, but a stony stoned psychedelic vibration
of something spiritually exciting, something which reminds the outer
inner worlds, and how close they are. The fog of the lake & the ghosts
of the forgotten old new days. Recorded nearby Berlin's Goldmund
festival in August 2007, in a place which used to be a summercamp for
kids in the times of GDR the point which alone may cause the climbing
in such a mystical level. Peaceful & strange at the same time.
Includes 9 minute Quicktime video
by Renate Nikolaus!!!" Music and video recorded at Goldmund Festival,
Wukensee/ Biesenthal 08/2007

Book of Shadows - 777 (CD) - Ikuisuus $10.00
"The Book of Shadows CD 777 on the label Ikuisuus is the bands seventh
release. The band was formed in 1999 when ST 37 founder Carlton
Crutcher and his wife Sharon began seeking a magical, improvisational
musical outlet. The band has stayed true to this vision for 9 years of
live shows, studio recordings and numerous musicians. All of the
recordings on 777 were recorded in 2007 and represent a peak for Book
of Shadows as a live band as well as a studio band. For this CD,
Sharon on vocals and Carlton on keys, are joined by Eric Archer
(Numbers on the Mast) on guitar/electronics, long time Book of Shadows
guitarist/composer Aaron Bennack, guitarist Jonathan Horne (Plutonium
Farmers), Johnny McCollom (Primordial Undermind) on percussion, Matt
Thies (Numbers on the Mast) on keys/electronics, Greg Elliott
(Spagirus) on dulcimer, and Vanessa Rossetto (The Mighty Acts of God,
Bright Duplex, Pulga, etc...) on viola, bowls and bells!!!....You are
the magic that you make...."

Canyon - Fever (CDR) - Ikuisuus $6.00
"Spacy bluesounding dreamwaves and echoes from the skyside of life.
Good medicine for the warped psychotic & hyperactive mind, even it
might sound as a devil itself first, but when we go really into it, we
start to feel (=see) heavenly admiring peace, kind of a mix of Brian
Eno's Ambient works and Popol Vuh's crystal tuning, with a well touch
of bluesy minimalistic vibration. Recorded by Mikkel Valentin
Dunkerley (from Denmark) in his home June 2008, using only electric
guitar & reverb effect."

Century Plants - Inversions (CDR) - Ikuisuus $6.00
"Latest from Albany guitar duo whose six string damaging has often
shred the guitar beyond recognition. For this outing, however, Century
Plants plug in, and allow their guitars to be guitars. Psych raga,
melting icebergs of roaring drone, metallic strum and clang, oceanic
melody and even a helping of pastoral song melody separate this from
previous smash ups. Hardiman and Hare create these hypnotic states
from the ground up, building their sound out of pure improvisation. Oh
yeah, the guitars don't always sound like guitars! "

Estasy - s/t (CDR) - Ikuisuus $6.00
"black velvet mask, golden wigs, untied shoes, candle flames &
beautiful trickling of wax, vine leaves, powder puffs. mystery is the
word. all tracks recorded in darkness. its about spiritual evol love
emotion....its not the pills...oh oh whatever" - emi estasy

Found Magazine - issue #6 (ZINE) - Found Magazine $5.00
"In My Life. FOUND #6 features stories of birth, childhood,
adolescence, young adulthood, middle age, old age and death. Love
stories and hate stories, stories of leaving jobs, friends, and family
behind, and making new connections. Folks struggle to keep their homes
in the midst of a mortgage crisis; others dream of rock stardom. One
guy faces his deepest fears, while another simply longs to have his
old face back. Valentines and wedding proposals; a search for a
science friend and a search for a dead cat that's gone missing. Plus,
our friends Miranda July and Daniel Clowes share favorites from their
own lifelong collections of finds. Be the first one on your block to
hold the new issue in your hands!"

Halo Manash - Am Kha Astrie (CD) - Aural Hypnox $12.00
"As the apex of Spring heralds awakenings, Halo Manash emerges from
Winter and hibernation ~ Treefaced. Horns spiral skyward and antlers
ascend. A tripartite trunk arises a pillar that splits all worlds.
Am Kha Astrie, a work of heliotropic, elemental ambient, is an
opening, an awakening, a summoning, a crossing of thresholds. After
their previous oneiric and minimal album, Am Kha Astrie sees Halo
Manash re-integrate a more diverse instrumentation and a multiplicity
of soundsources to create their work, which consists of seven
interrelated tracks. Am Kha Astrie is a complete work in itself, but
can also be viewed as the second facet of a tripartite series of works
that are part of one holistic creation. Archaic elemental drums, bones
and spiraling animal horns merge with various metal percussions,
chimes, wind-instruments, voices and a multitude of other instruments
to create a deep, earthly and yet celestially-bound opus. Am Kha
Astrie is a massive and sometimes ominous work, a
primal experience of coming-into-being, with all the terror, ecstasy
and divine awe that it implies. Comes in a hand finished cardboard
booklet, in an edition of 1000 copies."

Halo Manash - Language of Red Goats (CD) - Aural Hypnox $12.00
"Guided by nether nectars and dream herbs, oneiric visions and the
light of lunar tides, Halo Manash Language of Red Goats aims to be a
cartography of cavernous elemental realms and regions, sources and
springs that run deep and thick with the fluids of life, death and
dream. What was seeded at the Thin Veils has been gathered at Harvest
time, and is offered to the seeker as a libation and guide into the
ever-liminal, shrouded spaces, for dream-vigils and awakenings.
Language of Red Goats is a complete work in itself, but can also be
viewed as the first facet of a tripartite series of works that are
part of one holistic creation three faces of the same being. More
akin to a primitive fieldrecording in the realm of oneirotropic
exploration, than an actual album, the work consists of one lengthy
tripartite soundscape. Utilizing only gongs, bells, metal bowls and
wind instruments, as well as flocks of birds, the work is in contrast
to earlier more refined works that feature a wide
multiplicity of instruments and soundsources. Language of Red Goats is
a bare, primitive and sometimes raw aural landscape, and yet
nonetheless achieves a rare subliminal intensity and an edge of
otherwordly luminosity. Comes in a hand finished cardboard booklet, in
an edition of 920 copies."

Hassu Pelle - s/t (CDR) - Ikuisuus $6.00
Hassu Pelle (Funny Clown) from Tampere, Finland was active only a
couple of years at the first part of 2000s. This hilarious quintet was
formed by Pelle Eloton, Pelle Svansls, Ulkomaan Pelle, Pelle Jtk,
and Apupelle who was involved with the recording session. Hassu
Pelles self-titled first and only record was originally released by
the band members themselves with the edition of approximately only 30
copies. Hassu Pelle played some mind-boggling live shows for the
handful of people mostly just in their home town. These small
audiences were witness to the surprisingly fresh and thrilling musical
happiness. First impression might be that Hassu Pelles music is just
foolery, but hidden underneath the seeming simplicity these
compositions carry true brilliance. Eight catchy tracks were recorded
at those mighty days when Hassu Pelle was dancing at the peak of their
strength. At the recording session they used the simple one-take-style
without overdubs. The result is extremely
playful, yet confident, jagged with the taste of life. Hassu Pelle
played beautifully bittersweet, yet at the same time hysterically
merry music, which could be described in this context as "circus
music". Even the most hardened humourless person will get a smile on
the face while listening to Hassu Pelle. There's no other ensemble
which has reached such enchanting carnivalistic atmospheres like Hassu
Pelle. This cultural achievement from Ikuisuus label saves these
sounds of delight from the oblivion. Step into the circus, you won't
regret!

Keijo - Neverending Blues (CD) - Ikuisuus $10.00
"According to Indian mythology everything was born and will be born
with vibration, sound. What Western civilization calls music, is
narrow, nothing but strictly controlled thread in that vibrating area.
Other kind of threads have been mastered elsewhere. Inevitably these
threads will also face each other and become one. Basic note chimes in
blues, raga and mantra. I dreamt of musics and players who can
modulate with music, no matter which cultural background they come
from I felt I understood something about the sounds I sometimes
heard in the evening just before falling into sleep and in the morning
when I woke up." Keijo Virtanen (Kheta Hotem, Free Players, Rambling
Boys) makes his long distance walk into the stream of folk/
countryblues continuum. These marvellously rusty and dusty tracks have
been cooking with tender flame in Keijos mind&soul for a good while:
"When I was just a little boy, I used to just lay down under the
blanket (just before falling to sleep) randomly
switching the channels of our transistor radio. Under the crunches and
washes I also found the new pirate radio stations and there, among the
speeches came out the echoing, rhythmic, electric guitar music.
Eventually under rock music and British pop music I discovered the
sounds of the black people of North America. I felt like those deep
singing voices and wailing guitars would somehow also belong to this
kind of environment, to rural, middle-of-nowhere Finland, surrounded
by wildlife and physical work with our own hands and whatever we may
get grown from the land.

Kheta Hotem - Bowl Ceremony (CDR) - Ikuisuus $6.00
"Gigging with a varying and often an extensive group, Kheta Hotem has
visited the studio with a somewhat stripped basic essence. This
release is a collection of sense-filling presentations starting with a
ritual-like bowl ceremony, which leads into results closely related
with free jazz and ethnomusic. In their gig brochure the group claims
they continue the more than 1000 years old musical tradition of
Komutia, where the musician acts as a mediator between the world of
sounds and everyday existence. The instruments Kheta Hotem use are
traditional instruments of ritual music: the didgeridoo and different
percussions. However, the synthesizer and the electric guitar are not
forgotten, either. Acoustic instruments, including the human guttural
voices, meld with those produced electrically - the traditional
Komutian rituals turn into avant-garde. One can admire and listen to
the outcome as an impressive technical performance, and experience the
atmosphere to the marrow."

Predator Vision - IIIrd Gatekeeper (CASS) - Abandon Ship $5.00
"Self-released earlier this year, this one finds PV at their most
predatorial. They are ceaseless infinity jammers with a hunger for
psychsploration and a tight yet loose style that can sometimes seem
too good to be true. This being their second release, one can only
wonder what's in store for them. Featuring Mr. Ducktails himself:
Matthew Mondanile, Real Estate's Etienne Duguay, and Ben Daly of
Wavehead. Keep an eye out for their split LP with Sun Araw to be
released on Not Not Fun."

Taurpis Tula - Cadillac Sitting Like a Ton of Lead (LP) - Ikuisuus
$16.00
"Cadillac Sitting Like A Ton Of Lead, the brand new album from the
Taurpis Tula trio of David Keenan (Tight Meat Duo), Heather Leigh
(Scorces/Dream Aktion Unit/Jandek) and Alex Neilson (Tight Meat Duo/
Directing Hand/Jandek/Richard Youngs et al), represents the absolute
apex of their twin guitar/drums incarnation, with two side-long
improvised psychedelic blues that combine the kind of epic string-
muscle of Fushitsusha, Ohkami No Jikan, Kousokuya and Rallizes Denudes
with a sublime avant-garage sensibility and massive pockets of time-
killing freedom. Further amplifying the malevolent narcosis of their
debut LP on Eclipse, Cadillac… is a full blown rock record that full
delivers on their vision of Yoko jamming with Red Transistor in a
world where the conventional middle-brow ‘canon’ is pretty much
upended in favour of primitive avant garde brut. There are grooves
here that are as magnetic and future-visioned as The Magic Band circa
Big Eyed Beans From Venus or the final
seconds of amplifier meltdown on Mainliner’s Mellow Out while the
playing is at an all-time ESP-channelled high, with the group
generating glorious metal-inflected simultaneities without the
slightest whiff of ‘dialogue’ or even listening with ears. This is
a profound statement of the kind of freak-out freedoms inherent in the
most primal blues/rock forms and a revitalising connection to the
source of *it*, further building on the kind of form the group were
packing during their monstrous jam at Thurston Moore’s Nightmare
Before Christmas. Features Heather Leigh on vocals, harmonica and
pedal steel, David Keenan on electric guitar and Alex Neilson on
drums. Packaged in individually silkscreened sleeves by disobedient
Belgian artist Jelle Crama and featuring all-original artwork by
Heather Leigh on the front, the insert and the labels, Cadillac
Sitting Like A Ton Of Lead comes in a limited edition of 440 copies."
- Douglas Gully.

Telecult Powers - Amazing Laws of (CDR) - Abandon Ship $5.00
"Abandon Ship is proud to announce it's 50th release! And with it
comes the first non Temple of Pei Telecults album. It took some
convincing via Vulcan mind-meld, but I couldn't feel more honored. So
wipe the dust off of your ouija board, reshuffle your deck of tarot
cards, and hem the stitches on your voodoo doll. Some real-deal
mystical shit is about to go down. Keep a tight grip on your salvia
pipe, for it may be your only companion on this dark voyage. Some
local myths turned heroes in this mind-expanding duo. Trade in your
distortion and delay for magickal boxes of pure analog spirit. Nobody
has kept it realer than these guys. "

The Julie Mittens - Featuring Lexie Mountain (CDR) - Abandon Ship $5.00
"The Julie Mittens were among the first groups that I asked to do a
release for Abandon Ship Records. It's been nearly a year now, and
well worth the wait. They've made some treacherous waves over the past
few years, from their Sloow tape to their latest Holy Mountain
release. This one is no exception. Fresh off their US tour, the Julie
Mittens decided to properly document it with sister releases on ASR
and the Netherland's own Cut Hands (http://www.cuthands.net/
catalog.htm) label, respectively. Not only are the two releases
completely different from each other, but each CDr is housed in it's
own one-of-a-kind sleeve which boasts a unique photo taken on their US
tour. That's 200 different sleeves in total, with screenprinting on
each taboot! Recorded by Steve Sanford at the Golden West Cafe in
Baltimore on September 10th, and features Baltimore's own Lexie
Mountain on vocals for the 2nd track."

Totally Dad - Video for the Snake (CDR) - Abandon Ship $5.00
"Three hell-hermits from Middleton Street extra choose to live like
field mice. one yea cooks, one ha cleans, and one cuts doh paper. if
they notice the night late has begun, they drop their gold duties and
fold instruments into towels bang. It has all been full saved.
Somebody does it better than."

Vapaa - Se Soi, Soi! (CASS) - Ikuisuus $6.00
"5 live performances from Keijo's Free Players, all from 2005. A
magical merging of guitar / bass / drums / synth into a psyched out
wash of meditative sound." - Boa Melody Bar

Various Artists - Aural Holograms Vol. I (CD) - Aural Hypnox $12.00
"All of You who have gone before, across the ages we call You, to join
us and together reach the unsetting stars of the White Nights, the
Horizon of Hollow Earth. The very first part of the Aural Holograms
series incorporates various call and response patterns manifesting
vibrating, subtle energies, all of which have been accurately divided
into separate rhythmic dimensions and time-shifting aural tapestries.
The overall experience - i.e. the ecstatic effect - is transmitted by
the intensity of syncopated rhythms, reed organ lingering on a few
tones, self-transforming vocal work accompanied with carefully chosen
oscillating tunes and a variety of percussive patterns utilising
artefacts crafted according to the methods of traditional metallurgia,
as well as real-time tape operations. { 6126'N 2152'E } The rum is
poured on the ground, words are spoken in secrecy: the Dead Men will
come to tell their tales. Comes in six-panel hand finished cardboard
booklet, in an edition of 1.000
copies."

Xenis Emputae Travelling Band - The Crooked Pool (2CDR) - Ikuisuus $9.00
"The Crooked Pool compiles two discs of hitherto unreleased folk-magic
from March 2007 to March 2008. It was recorded among cliffs, moors,
streams and woods while seeking convocation with the genii locorum of
the Yorkshire moors. The Crooked Pool contains eleven psychogeographic
explorations with harmonium, recorder, flute, psaltery, violin and
guitar. 80 minutes of feral drones, wordless hymns, death dirges and
quiet rustic meditations. It will be the 18th XETB release."

+YN - La cancion del ciempies / Quise ser buho (CDR) - Ikuisuus $6.00
"This is +yn : a group formed by Gustavo Valerga, Mara Victoria
Arener, Pablo Picco and Csar Young. Four people from different parts
of the country mixed together in Crdoba (one of Argentinas bigger
towns, 600 km west from Buenos Aires). Recorded in 2007 and mixed this
year, La cancin del ciempis (the song of the centipede) comes
from the same recording sessions of Copa de un rbol sin raz [LP
that is about to be finished later this year]. Vocals are mostly
throat singing by Mara Victoria, Gustavo makes all the guitar walls,
Csar does the drumming and Pablo the keyboards & flutes. Spectral
melodies in second track Quise ser bho (i wanted to be an owl),
sung by the special quest, our friend Gubia from Ecuador. Long minutes
of electric static after some thick guitar and keyboard barriers,
mixed with tons of voices, just to uncannily land in some woods near
home, calmly hypnotized by some hand made stick flutes. We like folk,
we like drone, we like to hit electric
guitars, we like overtone singing and we like the trees that cover us
at night. Just sit back there and enjoy the music from the heart of
the centipede."

hey guys,
the Fall sale i've been running the past couple weeks is coming
to the an end, so check out my catalog while it lasts (couple days
left).

20-30% OFF EVERYTHING in stock

http://www.carbonrecords.com/mailorder/

here's some recent additions:

New Releases since 10/19/2008 (17 items)
======================================

(VxPxC) - Chinatown Nose-Cut (CDR) - Dead Sea Liner $8.00
"This sister piece to (VxPxC)'s "twelve divided by three" and
"reticent to manifest" cassettes sees a more electronic slant to their
blissful free improv folk sound. A murky psychedelic puddle of
Californian sludge peppered with angel dust. Limited Edition of 75."

Ashley Paul - d.o.l (CD) - Rel Records $10.00
"'d.o.l' is the CD/full length debut release by Ashley Paul. What
makes Ashley Paul's music so special is her completely individual
approach that leaves one wide eyed with a wonderful type of confusion.
At first 'd.o.l' sounds like a minimalist psycho-acoustic experiment,
sustained horns, with subtle shifts of tone color swell with
sustaining bowed bells and percussion. Yet it seems rough and
agressive, with ample bow sound and crackling electronic hiss. It
shortly becomes something very different as her whispering singing,
guitars and field recordings enter. She sings something resembling a
song, in her understated vocal style, but a song that you have
certainly never heard before. She glides along, on with a odd lop-
sided sense of timing, from section to section. 'd.o.l' sounds more a
product of Ashley's experience then anything else. Playing this year
with Loren Connors, Aki Onda, Anthony Coleman and Greg Kelley in
addition to recording saxophone for a new piece by Phill Niblock along
with Eli Keszler. 'd.o.l' is a true testament to Ashleys truley
unique music and vision. It is packaged in a hand painted arigato pak
with a silver embossed image, with hand stamped label and a unique
'glue and diamond' seal on the back with a vellum insert. Pressed in a
one time edition of 500 CDs."

Aube - Metal On Metal (CDR) - Silentes $10.00
"Another long awaited reissue from Aube. METAL ON METAL (as for AQUA
SYNDROME) was published by MANIFOLD records. Also for this work, over
the original album, you'll can hear a bonus track and a full live CD.
To the discovery of the alchemical secrets and the magic of the
metallic materials, of their acoustic characters, and the possible
technological manipulations on the sounds that are possible to pull
out... It arches of it resonances, mantric vibrations, hypnotics bells
rings... That features of sounds of cymbals, plates, rings... that
tubular elements are used or more ordinary and simple metallic objects
of common use... that they are bowed or scraped..., Aube acquires the
sounds and of it transforming its essence... decomposing and
recomposing the shape... Fragmenting, expanding, stratifying and
elaborating the sonorous matter, constructs complexwafts, resounding
weaves carpets, interlaces thin threads of metallic tensions, crumbles
and agglomerates acoustic particles, leaves to flowlong,
reverberating, harmonic drones... "Metal on Metal", two only,
fantastic CD for and a matchless release"

Aube - Reworks Stefano Gentile II (CD) - Silentes $10.00
"Long static drones and suspended frequencies of harmonic, sonorous
wafts in constant evolution riding cyclical hypnotic perennially
changing synthetic curved..."

Aube - Le Syndrome Aquatique (2CD) - Silentes $15.00
"This is the long awaited reissue of one of the best Aube's work
originally titled AQUA SYNDROME, published about 10 years ago by
MANIFOLD records. The new reissue..."

Bjerga / Iversen - (Go With The Flow) Like a Twig on the Shoulders of
a Mighty Stream (CD) - Carbon Records $8.00
.. that is kinda what Bjerga/Iversen have been doing, since the humble
beginnings 4 years ago.. After more than 50 releases and about the
same number of gigs since then, it is perhaps somewhat of a
contradiction that its all more or less just as humble This CD
collects some choice cuts and edits from our now quite (stupidly)
extensive recorded catalogue.. It might not be an easy task to single
out the best moments, which would sort of be beside the point anyway..
In a way its all the same song, the song that never ends.. We tap on
to the frequency, and sometimes the psychedelic transmissions are
seeping through like burning sunlight on technicolored drops of water
and other times the harrowing, fleshy minimalism of solitary organ
notes and foggy feedback overtones dig out deeper, darker furrows in
uncharted territories.

Bjerga / Iversen - In broken dreams the world still keeps turning
(CDR) - Dead Sea Liner $8.00
"A great slice of industrial ambience from the Norwegian duo - walls
of drone improv and inteference cut through with robot birdsong."

Electric Mono River - No sunlight down here (CDR) - Dead Sea Liner $8.00
"Live mini-album of mono spectral meditations and caveman incantations
from Norwegian supergroup of Sindre Bjerga, Per Gisle Galen and
Martin Powell."

Eli Keszler - R.L.K. (CD) - Rel Records $10.00
"Long piece in 3 parts; Bowed percussion, drumset and electronics.
Hand embossed/stamped and painted arigate pak with insert. Edition 2:
Avaiable now in edition of 500."

Fossils From the Sun - From Another Sun (CDR) - Tape Drift $8.00
"Monster solo debut from Ray Hare of Century Plants and Burnt Hills.
Ranging from meditative guitar mantras to blissed out noise to hazy
melodic riffage, and covering most of the points in between, this
release has fast become a favorite here at Tape Drift headquarters. A
very tight and driven set, this has the conceptual purity that only a
debut can have, as it represents years and years of preparation and
inspiration. Get on the train early - there's much more to come and
you won't want to have missed out on the beginnings. Edition of 50."

KK Null - Galactic Tornado (CD) - Quasipop $10.00
"The album Galactic Tornado by Mr. Kazuyuki Kishino (KK NULL)
presents the deep, dense & dynamic electronic music. It's
unconditional, intuitive and highly emotional excellent audio-work.
Combining synthetic sounds from various synthesizers and electronic
machines with acoustic audio signals, the composer explores (from his
own point of view) some artistic values of psychedelic electronic
sound that were widly presented on space/electronic/kraut albums from
70s. Naturally, this CD could be recommended for listeners who prefer
the contemporary experimental sound in its highest quality and for
fans of retro spacey sound from the groups such as Popol Vuh,
Cluster or even Tangerined Dream as well. Luxurious 6-panels digipack
with silver lettering and spot varnishing feautures artwork with
images done by Kazuyuki Kishino."

Korperschwache - the joy of seppuku (CDR) - Dead Sea Liner $8.00
"Korperschwache is in fine form on this new release, this is drone in
the best sense of the word. Delve beyond the surface and a multitude
of twilight worlds reveal themselves to you, each one danker and
merkier than the last. I can only recommend turning this one up loud
and allow the music to strip away all your other senses."

Lasse Marhaug / Mats Gustafsson - For Ake Hodell (7inch) - Quasipop
$5.00
"This vinyl only release is inspired by Swedish avant-garde artist Ake
Hodell and features the music of two giants of contemporary
experimantal music: free-jazz/improv saxophone player Mats Gustafsson
and noise/electronic composer Lasse Marhaug. Side A presents noisy cut-
up/musique concrete piece by Lasse Marhaug, and B side belongs to Mats
Gustafsson's bulldozer-like saxophone growling. Records pressed in
Germany."

Maurizio Bianchi - Menstruum Regles (CD) - Silentes $10.00

NIMH + M.B. - Together's Symphony (OTHER) - Silentes $40.00
"A stricly ltd.300 copies 4xCD box that includes: MAURIZIO BIANCHI :
NIDDAH EMMHNA (CD SILENTES SME0504), NIMH : SUBTERRANEAN THOUGHTS (CD
SILENTES MINIMAL EDITION SME0505), NIMH + M.B. : SECLUDED TRUTHS (CD
SILENTES SME0506), M.B. + NIMH : TOGETHER'S SYMPHONY (CD SILENTES
SME0507) --- An extraordinary collaboration between the hystorical
italian de-composer Maurizio Bianchi and the eclectic electronic-
ambiental experimenter Nimh (Giuseppe Verticchio). An unmissable 4CD
box that's a long and kaleidoscopic journey at the edges of sound,
from the dark-industrial feelings of Together's Symphony, CD that
gives the box the title, to experimental-lyric-introspective
atmospheres of Secluded Truths, to sonic multicoloured collages of
Niddah Emmhna, by the only M.B., and the electronic-acoustic-ambiental
visionary suggestions of Subterranean Thoughts by the only Nimh.
Endocrine insulation for diagnostic firabilities."

Rambutan - Rusted Prayers Converge (CDR) - Tape Drift $8.00
"CDR Debut solo release from Eric Hardiman of Century Plants and Burnt
Hills. From ghostly noisescapes to swirling organic drone plateaus to
pure guitar improvisations, Hardiman floats in and out of various
sound worlds on this one, yet always ties things together with a
thoughtful and compelling sonic thread. Four tracks recorded basement
style deep in the night, and it shows. Dig in, yet another surprise
from the Century Plants camp. "

Slow Listener - Desolation Sound (CDR) - Tape Drift $8.00
"Following amazing releases on labels all over the globe (Ruralfaune,
Peasant Magik, Celebrate Psi Phenomenon) comes another masterpiece
from the genius mind of Robin Dickinson, out of Brighton, UK. A hymn
to pure sonic beauty, this release is unparalleled in its focus and
singular nature. Self-described as his "heaviest work yet", the sounds
herein are simply gorgeous in their ability to transport to other
planetary realms. Under thick layers of fractal tones, distorted hues,
and sonic grime lays the beautiful melodic framework that undergirds
all of Slow Listener's material. Edition of 100."

ANNA ZARADNY - MAUVE CYCLES
MUSICA GENERA  G004

premiera/release date: 23.10.2008

  nowa płyta wydawnictwa Musica Genera
  new release from Musica Genera

  wiecej informacji, mp3 / more info, mp3:
www.musicagenera.net

"Mauve Cycles" Anny Zaradny to wydawnictwo wyjątkowe. Przede wszystkim
to dopiero pierwsza w pełni solowa płyta artystki o bogatym i znaczącym
dorobku, obejmującym muzykę improwizowaną, komponowaną dla teatru,
współpracę z artystami wizualnymi i tworzenie instalacji dźwiękowych.
Co również znaczące, działalność kobiet na polu poszukującej muzyki
współczesnej jest wciąż postrzegana jako niecodzienna (stąd obecność
składanek typu "Women in Electronic Music" z 1977 roku czy wystaw w
rodzaju "Her Noise" z 2005), w Polsce zaś jest zjawiskiem zupełnie
marginalnym.

W muzyce Zaradny pierwsze, co przykuwa uwagę, to bogactwo barw i
faktur dźwiękowych, hałaśliwych, drapieżnych, preparowanych,
przetwarzanych elektronicznie. Zaskakująca jest tu niemalże barokowa
ornamentyka.
sceny free-improv i sound artu (Tony Buck, Burkhard Stangl, Cor Fuhler,
Zbigniew Karkowski) znajduje swój wyraz w dwóch częściach "Mauve
Cycles".

Strukturalnie muzyka Anny zbudowana jest z przenikających się
wzajemnie, zmiennych motywów brzmieniowych i rytmicznych,
nagranych
w podobnej konwencji. Wielowarstwowość i przestrzenność brzmienia
w dziedzinie elektronicznej preparacji, o specyficznej wrażliwości
  i intuicji dźwiękowej.
Anna jest również autorką okładki, na której oprócz jej zdjęcia
wnikliwy odbiorca znajdzie ujawnienie romantycznego oblicza
MarkaRaczkowskiego. Wszystko to składa się na osobistą wypowiedź Anny
Zaradny. Jej ostatnie ujawnienia wydawnicze
i koncertowe wskazywały na rosnącą wrażliwość w sferze sztuki
dźwiękowej, a najnowsza płyta daje temu pełen wyraz, intrygujący i
przewrotny, stanowiący kolejne ujawnienie kompozytorskiej serii oficyny
Musica Genera.
  Daniel Brożek

  ....

"Mauve Cycles" by Anny Zaradny is a significant release. It is the
first solo CD by the artist with already considerable output, including
improvised music, composing for theatres, collaborations with visual
artists and sound installations. Also, the involvement of women in the
contemporary experimental music still seems to be perceived as unusual
(hence the compilation releases such as "Women in Electronic Music"
from 1977 or "Her Noise" exhibition from 2005) and in Poland it is a
marginal phenomena.

What immediately captures attention in Anna's music is the diversity
of colour and texture: noisy, harsh, prepared, digitally manipulated.
The unusual thing is the almost baroque ornamentation. The production
of the recording, emphasising the dynamics of sound, reveals the
remarkable abundance of textural detail, especially at high volume. The
rich arrangements make one think of orchestral momentum, which is not
surprising in the context of Zaradny's classical music education.
Sensitivity rooted in the aesthetics of '60 sonoristic avant-garde
(Pauline Oliveros, David Tudor, Gordon Mumma), combined with years of
experience and collaborations with world's leading free-improv and
sound artists (Tony Buck, Burkhard Stangl, Cor Fuhler, Zbigniew
Karkowski) result in the two parts of "Mauve Cycles".

At structural level, Anna's music is built of interweaving, constantly
evolving sound and rhythm blocks, organised into the title cycles. Even
if the elements of this sound mosaic can be categorised (drone, field
recordings, extreme sonoristics, oscillator rhythms), every now and
then the order is shattered by violent, out of context sound
intrusions. The feeling of constant unease, both at compositional and
sound levels, is one thing that makes the record stand out. The other
is the focus on compositional aspect of the music, which distinguishes
Anna's ideas from many other recordings in similar sound convention.
The multilayer, spatial nature of the recordings resemble sound
sculptures of Harry Bertoia, Christina Kubisch or Kaffe Matthews.
"Mauve Cycles" seems to correspond with the output of these artists, as
well as Eliane Radigue's or Delia Debyshire's, contributing to women's
voice in the field of electronic preparations.
Anna is also responsible for the cover design, including the
surprisingly romantic contribution from famous Polish graphic artist
Marek Raczkowski. Recent musical activities indicated Anna's growing
sensibility in the field of sound art, and this latest recording is the
full expression of her experiences. It is another gem in the
compositional series of Musica Genera label.

internet and onto your ipod. Each sticker/code is good for two

AUN - Multigone (CDR) - Crucial Blast $9.00
".This seven track disc is undeniably the heaviest music that AUN has
created so far, a grinding, distorted soundscape that begins with the
keening electronic drones and muffled, disembodied metallic riffing
that becomes endlessly tanged in a nest of squirming low-end noise in
the opening title track, and steadily ratchets up the heaviness with
each track, until we come to the punishing "Palejoy", a bludgeoning
Industrial metal dirge that has massive, Godflesh-like percussion
fused to processed, almost synthetic sounding doom riffage, a black
cloud of buzzing, ultra downtuned black dirge drifting over a muffled,
slow motion breakbeat. In between, AUN erects vast walls of crumbling
distortion and rhythmic guitar loops forged into apocalyptic ambient
drift streaked with heavenly synth choirs and sweeping cosmic fx,
crushing fifteen-minute blasts of immolating amplifier ragas formed
from a nebula of melting woodwind sounds, distant elephantine tympani
drums, hellish symphonies of rusted, scraping strings and celestial
electronic whiteout that ends up sounding like something from
Skullflower's Orange Canyon Mind but one hundred times heavier, and
strange deep-space blues jam instrumentals with impossibly detuned
guitar soaring through black holes of reverb and tape fluctuation.
This is seriously crushing stuff that stands out in sharp contrast to
the hordes of amp-leaning feedback riders, and is highly recommended
to anyone into KTL, Final, Black Boned Angel, To Blacken The Pages,
K.K. Null, Aethnor, Fall Of The Grey Winged One, Fear Falls Burning,
Hlidolf, Messiah Complex, and other heavy, textural industrial/ambient/
sludge groups. Multigone is packaged in the signature Bliss sleeve
with full color artwork, and the disc is attached to the interior of
the sleeve on a plastic hub. Issued in a limited edition of 300 copies."

Bones of Seabirds - sacrament (CDR) - small doses $8.00
Bones of Seabirds - sacrament (CDR) - small doses $8.00 "Considering
that this is the first release from Ryan McGill's Bones of Seabirds,
the level of craft and maturity is astounding. Rich and densly
textured, improvised drones unfold over 8 tracks in 49 minutes. For
fans of older Sunn0))) material and Birchville Cat Motel. Edition of
138 numbered copies in a folded cardstock cover with hand cut vellum

Burnt Hills - Morning Glory (CD) - Ruby Red Label $12.00
- Morning Glory (CD) - Ruby Red Label $12.00 "Psych trip genius, Burnt
Hills drop a 57min wild wild ride to the best possible place. Truly
Albany´s best. Play it loud and you will find all sorts of lost
zones there! Play it very loud and you will be re-born. "

Cam Deas - five bells (CDR) - Blackest Rainbow $10.00
"2nd edition with different artwork to the first run... The initial 2
seconds of the opener on this 6 track blazer from Cam are screeching
electronics which vanish instantly into a seance of a doomed village,
with the leader strumming out some bleak herbal drug folk ritual/haze.
Track two, 'Where We've Been' blurs into an intense dronescape,
smearing into a lighter, more psychedelic, drone piece 'Where We're
Going'. 'The Days Are Over' has a floating drone back, layered on top
with guitar ala Jack Rose, Blackshaw etc. Title track 'Five Bells'
follows burning the guitar into a flaming rage, with a few remaining
strum yelps struggling through the flames. The disc closes with a
sweet guitar piece entitled 'Two More Days', again similar to
Blackshaw and Rose. Cam just moved up for the smoke to the steel city
and a bunch of us just discovered his musical vibes. He has a bunch of
things dropping soon, and had a split release with Sindre Bjerga not
so long ago. The dude has the skills. Limited to 60."

Cock E.S.P. and Suffering Bastard - split 10" (10inch) - Freenoise
$10.00
"Suffering Bastard = Brutal grindcore featuring a dual-bass assault of
the highest gain and lowest frequency, complete with brain-rattling
vocal violence and remorseless drumkit abuse. Cock E.S.P. = Ugly and
unlistenable shrieking noise overload inspired by Duran Duran and a
pure unadulterated hatred of humankind. Together at last, in a
beautiful green and silver cardboard jacket."

De Magia Veterum - Verus Diuinus Magus (CDR) - Ruralfaune $11.00
"Emblematic BM, the epic side of Gnaw Their Tongues. Intense &
chaotic, the instruments all work together to create a rough, gritty
atmosphere. Originally released as "Spike through Eyes" self-released
cdr in 2005. This version contains 2 bonus tracks !"

Demons - Evocation (CD) - No Fun Productions $10.00
"Consisting of Nate Young (of Wolf Eyes) and Steve Kenney, Demons
explore near-epileptic and droning analog synth textures that elicit
comfortable remembrances of electronic forefathers like Stockhausen
and Cluster whilst simultaneously bludgeoning forward with the grating
and scraping atonal complexities of Whitehouse and Throbbing Gristle.
Having already rallied a fervorous flux of supporters with
discomforting psychedelic multi-media performances and a slew of
cryptic releases, Evocation is an appropriately elaborate and
accomplished approximation of their shrewd identity and is their first
full length CD release, with artwork by visual collaborator Alivia
Zivich."

Entente Cordiale - life underground (2CDR) - Carbon Records $10.00
This is a set of studio and live Entente Cordiale recordings. disc 1
consists of a studio session at the Bunker in Rochester NY, recorded
by Nuuj (of Pengo/Asthmatic/Tuurd). three pieces varying from the EC
guitar pattern/drone approach, and ending with an on-the-edge of
falling apart secular mantra before diving into the most
uncharacteristic EC sounds to date (channeling the then future
direction of Tumul). disc 2 consists of a long live set recorded at
Soundlab in Buffalo NY, when EC (accompanied by Nuuj) opened for the
Yellow Swans. a marathon blast of loud guitar riffs, drones and deep
synth action. [sprayed and silkscreened 5x7 chipboard stay-flat kraft
envelopes with sprayed discs]

Gnaw Their Tongues - An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood (CD) - Crucial
Blast $12.00
"Gnaw Their Tongues, an enigmatic project from the Netherlands that
has wowed fans of messed-up heaviosity with the phenomenal Reeked,
Pained and Shuddering CD that was released on Paradigms along with a
host of super-limited CDR and cassette releases, is joining the
Crucial Blast roster for the CD release of the new full length An
Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood, which was released as a limited edition
vinyl release at the beginning of 2008 on Burning World Records. This
undefinable mass of black amorphic horror is one of the most intense
listens we've engaged in recently, a nihilistic pit of howling
orchestral strings and blackened abstract doom, operatic female voices
plunging into a fetid sewer of filth and blackness, equal parts avant
black metal and splattered sludge and symphonic horror movie score. An
overwhelming deathscape scrawled in jagged figures across pieces like
"My body is not a vessel, nor a temple. It's a repulsive pile of
sickness" or "Sawn asunder and left for the beasts", and flecked with
moments of unbelievably crushing beauty that may surprise fans of Gnaw
Their Tongue's previous work. "

Half Ice Half Wasted - MUDBOY BEATS (SERIES II) (CDR) - Mudboy $7.00
"Someone had the retarded Idea of attaching the inputs and outputs of
the nations finest DJ of Freakcore smashedup with the stylings of
mudboy Beats. As DJ Jassy Jesssss turns the twist hop up up up mudboy
hotwires his openfaced drum machine live. A finely compiled collection
from many hours of recording. 100% HITS! We promise to meet you in the
future with this one."

Hatred - Pitted Water (CDR) - AA Records $8.00
"Hatred featuring Max Eisenberg and Twig Harper. Recorded Live in
Detroit on 03/29/08 and Live in Baltimore on 03/09/08, in that order."

Hatred - Sciatica (CDR) - AA Records $8.00
"The last couple weeks I've had a hard time walking. This tape
represents sciatic nerve problems: the inability to walk, numbness of
the limbs, sharp pain and the realization that you can damage yourself
without even moving. Not a light topic, not an easy listen. 4 tracks
of slow, traumatic movements made with a UHER 4200."

hoor-paar-kraat - a whisper in the sow's ear (3inch CDR) - small doses
$6.00
"when you get a new hoor-paar-kraat recording, you never quite know
what Anthony Mangicapra is going to give you. it's always something
new, ambitious and often pretty indescribeable. This one is no
exception and takes hpk to undiscovered territory. This release works
mainly in the higher register. It's bookended by two pieces rooted in
the sounds of a singing bowl, or at least that's what it sounds like
to my ears. The centerpeice of the disc, was created by 'playing' a
sculpture by Eric Furman. It's quiet, beautiful, and creates a sense
of space not often heard in a piece of music. Numbered edition of 142.
Packaged in a tri-fold cover with art by Anthony Mangicapra with a
vellum overlay."

Jazzfinger/Culver and Fordell Research Unit - split 10" (LP) -
Blackest Rainbow $18.00
"Brand new split LP featuring heavy hitting UK bleak dudes... A-Side
is Jazzfinger's 'Killed In A Clear Sky', one solid slab of fucked up
tapped guitar drone and distant errie whir... like a storm of electric
feedback, slashes and cuts. Far out, and a real killer 20 odd minutes
to make you lull out. B-Side is a collaboration between Culver and
Fordell Research Unit, another side long piece, that starts off with
some bassed up doom chugs and slogs that sound like fucking something
that could lay down by some Southern Lord brutality, but then it
punches you in the face with its distorted churning hell. Limited to
280 white label LPs in black sleeves with hideous brutal artwork by
French."

kenji siratori - morgue (CDR) - small doses $8.00
"A divergence from the spoken-word noise that Kenji has come to be
known for. Three tracks of dark, ambience that move into harsher
territories. The title matches the tone of the disc. Edition of 66
stamped cdrs."

kenji siratori - morgue (CDR) - small doses $8.00
"A divergence from the spoken-word noise that Kenji has come to be
known for. Three tracks of dark, ambience that move into harsher
territories. The title matches the tone of the disc. Edition of 66
stamped cdrs."

krzysztof - jajouka (CDR) - small doses $8.00
"five tracks of incredible sinewave generator improvisations. no
computers. no editing. it's pretty amazing stuff by Mike Karnowski,
who often works under the name Potpie - with several releases on
Backporch Revolution and his own Ixnay Records imprint. He took
inspiration from the likes of Jajouka, Konono #1, and Terry Riley and
churned out some complex and mesmerizing work. One one hand the music
sounds incredibly modern, but if I was told this stuff was created by
some tweaked out evil genius decades ago, I would certainly believe
it. Numbered edition of 68 copies."

Law of the Rope - The Book of Three (CDR) - Ruralfaune $11.00
"Six chapters of pure evilness by the most mysterious trio of L.A.
Beatrix Opression (vokils), Legin Opression (stringed & machinery) &
Nadine Opression (funeral pianos) annihilate any hope with desolate
melodies and scorched rhythms. Enigmatic Black Metal"

men scryfa - the sky was troubled with the dread strength of the wind
(3inch CDR) - small doses $6.00
"Men Scryfa is Chris Naughton and Simon Lucas of Atavist. Atavist is a
good starting point to envision the sound for this project, but they
take the sound in different directions than the band that brought them
together. It's heavy and plodding, but progressive and melodic with
spoken vocals. It feels a bit like a doom metal version of something
from Slint's Spiderland record. Absolutely fantastic. Edition of 199
copies."

Nacht Insecten - Futuristic Egytian Space Temple (CASS) - Gold Soundz
$8.00
" A mighty new release from our fine young scotsman. Spaced out,
blissful psychedelic drones stretching out the time capsules much like
the finest krautrock moments. Black case C-30 cassettes in yellow fold-
around paper cover. Edition of 50"

Nadja - Desire In Uneasiness (CD) - Crucial Blast $12.00
"Following a wave of recent reissues and re-recorded versions of older
CD-R titles, Desire In Uneasiness is an album of all new material from
the acclaimed Canadian dreamsludge weavers Nadja. Five colossal jams
of eternally-fuzzy, ethereal dirge that are powered by the
interlocking bass guitars of Leah Buckareff and Aidan Baker, who set
loose a wave of monstrous grinding bass riffs amidst a fog of
beautiful, swirling electronic effects. Desire also marks the first
Nadja album to feature a live drummer in place of the drum machine
programming that has driven the band's previous recordings, and the
difference in the band's sound is apparent from the first crushing
beats of album opener 'Disambiguation'. The organic drumming here
takes Nadja's music into new realms of spacious jazzy exploration,
dubby rhythms and cavernous psychedelia, while also delivering some of
the band's most grooving, crushing hypno-bliss yet. Desire also stands
out from the rest of the Nadja catalog for it's bizarre artwork that
Aidan commisioned from his friend The Reverend Aitor. Aitor's bright,
bold lines and textured magic marker artwork gives the gatefold jacket
we've presented this disc in the look of a twisted children's book on
acid, with weird images of chickens, trees growing through chairs, and
more. The package is a sturdy 4-panel gatefold jacket printed by
Stoughton, and it looks killer. "

nicholas szczepanik - a stillness rarely seen (3inch CDR) - small
doses $6.00
"This is a new 21 minute composition from Nicholas. He never does the
same thing twice, so it's not very surprising to say that this is
completely different from the previous release on Small Doses, Astilbe
Rubra. It's a very quiet, contemplative, and, at times, heartbreaking
piece of music. Edition of 139 with a front cover photo by Rob Dobi."

NOISEM - +- (CD) - Crucial Blast $10.00
"The first real release from the Japanese glitch/shred duo Noism,
following their appearance on the Relapse compilation Drummachinegun
and a series of demos. Formed by guitarist Yoshiro Hamazaki and
programmer Tomoyuki Akiyama in 1999 in Tokyo, Noism focuses on
ridiculously complex and spastic death/grind instrumentals using
programmed drums that are cut up and spliced back together into
impossible rhythms, a million brain-melting riffs and dissonant
shredding, all of which is chopped up and processed into abstract
death blasts that defy physics. This twelve-song, twenty-one minute
disc features a unique, glitched-out chop shop of Planet Mu-style
beats delivered at truly meth'd levels of chaos fused with sweeping
technical death metal. Insane. Highly recommended for fans of extreme,
way-out avant-guitar spazz and absurdly technical deathgrind. "

Om - Live at Jerusalem (LP) - Southern Lord $20.00
"In December of 2007 the mighty duo that is OM made a pilgrimage to
Israel to play for its people. Their pinnacle performance unfolded at
4 Aristobolus Street in Jerusalem the site of Uganda Records. The band
played for over 4 hours on this evening! The tracks: "Flight of the
Eagle" and "Bhimas' Theme" were captured and the transmission of these
recordings were flown back to the United States where the vinyl
lacquers were made by Bob Weston . Southern Lord in cooperation with
OM present you the listener with this 180 gram black vinyl
transcendental offering: OM-"Live at Jerusalem". Limited to 3,100
machine numbered copies. "

Othern Lights - video experience - DVD special edition (DVDR) - Mudboy
$7.00
"Directions: Project 10'x10' or place face close to television screen.
Press play. 200 copies. " Othern Lights is a 7 minute immersive video
experience. This video animation was programmed at the most basic
level in postscript and C using late era mainframes. No video editing
software was introduced at any time to produce the visual effects you
see. Sound by mudboy, animation by David Fischer.""

Paul Metzger - Canticle of Ignat/ All Glass (CD) - Archive Recordings
$14.00
"One track played on modified acoustic guitar and one track played on
modified Banjo. For those unfamiliar with Saint Paul’s Mr
Metzger his works offer and amazing mix of Indian ragas crossed with a
junk yard band feel, highly evolved and incredible unique. Recorded by
myself in 2007 at BigJar in Philly a fantastic piece of documentation
offered unaltered form. The CD edition comes housed in a slightly
taller sleeve with two color silk screen work by Alan Sherry of SIWA
on a heavyweight 140lb paper. The front cover is die cut with and
inserted picture from the performance printed on vellum, all hand
glued and assembled by myself. Graphic work by Demian Johnston. "

Pelt - Dauphin Elegies (CD) - vhf $10.00
"First new studio recordings from Pelt in 3 years finds them picking
up where 2005’s Untitled CD left off – delivering massive
slabs of heavy, all-acoustic drone action. “Waning Crescentâ
€ is an ominous workout for three large gongs, rich with overtones
and subsonic rumble. “Fire Signs Along the Field” offers a
slightly jarring quartet of spare string noise, with Nathan Bowles
(Black Twigs, Spiral Joy Band) sitting in on double bass. “Cast
Out to Deep Waters” is an immense 30 minute epic that fits into
the archetypical classics in the Pelt canon, in the vein of â
€œEmpty Bell Ringing in the Sky” and Untitled’s â
€œI.” The all too brief “Crown of Comets” closes
the CD with the chiming, overlapping ring of bells recorded in
Virginia’s Falls Ridge caves. In card folio."

polish hex - s/t (CASS) - EXBX Tapes $5.00
"Screams exactly like the true feel of a polish hex. first few minutes
are dwelling on some strong "phantom-of-the-opera-styled-menace-is-
going-to -jump-out-of-my-closet-and-swiftly-grip-the-tecate-OZ-
straight-in-front" preminitions. this is like, deep organ drone or
something? dude doesn't have an organ?? if this dude was into xanax or
clonapan or something cool i could only imagine the deep-fried HEX
jams that would blemish the ears. tape works good for pill fiends &
butchers in deep subterranean tunnels. tape works bad for the weak &
cold. pure white form." - descrip by Pure Skull -" 40 minutes, 27
tapes, printed on red and white vellum (sold out at source)

Quttinirpaaq - Quttinirpaaq (CDR) - Ruralfaune $11.00
"White as a bone of a dead musk ox, heaby as the skull of the beast,
the monolithic guitars of Q take your breath away. Lost on the
glaciial island, you will face the blizzard. Massive"

Sunroof! - Panzer Division Lou Reed (CD) - vhf $10.00
"Beneath the usual lovely psychedelic artwork on the cover of Panzer
Division Lou Reed lurks Sunroof’s most explosive and assaultive
record ever. The key track here in the Sunroof! evolution is the
opening “Slew Plateaus #1,” with Mick Flower
(Vibracathedral Orchestra) on guitar and John Moloney (Sunburned Hand
of the Man) on drums. This live shot of electricity gradually ramps up
from Matt Bower and Mick Flower’s dueling guitars to when
Moloney’s drums come crashing in after about six minutes,
leading to a furious crescendo that lasts for the remainder of the 19
minute track. “Slew Plateaus #2” is a lengthy collaboration
with underground gadabout Mattin, whose previous collabs with Tony
Conrad, Bruce Russell, Eddie Prevost et al hopefully prepared him for
the MB wrecking ball which is delivered here. The other two cuts are
absolutely blistering demolition work, which in spite of their
visceral impact, reach a state of zen-like stasis after a couple of
minutes, ala the best of MB’s work with Hototogisu. "

Sutcliffe Jugend and Prurient - End of Autumn (2LP) - Troubleman
Unlimited $18.00
"A live collaboration from SUTCLIFFE JUGEND (KEVIN TOMKINS and PAUL
TAYLOR) and PRURIENT (DOMINCK FERNOW of Hospital Productions) recorded
April 19, 2006 in Tunbridge Wells, UK. Features lyrics appropriated
from death poems by Japanese monks. Beatuiful gatefold packaging
designed by Fernow with photography by LINDSEY WATKINS."

Th. - afflux (3inch CDR) - small doses $6.00
"a 19+ minute glitched out composition that varies from minimal and
dark to piercing and cacophonic. th. is taylor holdgraf who also works
under the iamseamonster moniker. edition of 77. housed in a trifold,
two-sided vellum cover."

Thinguma*jigSaw - awakeinwhitechapel (CD) - Deserted Village $10.00
"Two elusive, exceptional, pivotal personalities - cunningly spinning
a web of flamboyant brouhahas within the idiom of their own device:
charming, clever, generous, sinister splatterfolk. Splatterfolk
combines elements of traditional Irish/British/American folk with
contemporary art music, and spices it up with lyrical and musical
components usually associated with horror films, experimental theatre
and modernistic poetry. There is also an abundance of film and
popcultural references. It's the new revolution within the folk music
- scene of today, and you will find no finer exponents of this
subversive art than Thinguma*jigSaw. "

torso/gack - split 10" (CDR) - small doses $8.00
- split (CDR) - small doses $8.00 "The Torso/Gack split is two sides
of the same apocalyptic coin. The Torso portion's P.E. styled synth
destruction walks you through your own torturous death. Then Gack's
more atmoshperic blackened noise takes you on a slow journey through
purgatory and leaves you stranded in hell. Edition of 103."

Trees - Lights Bane (CD) - Crucial Blast $12.00
"The debut album from the Portland quartet Trees delivers two epic
tracks of monolithic, blackened doom metal with a twisted, noise-
damaged approach and a dank basement vibe. Trees craft glacial
abstract riffs and rivers of ashen amplifier goo that fans of feedback-
laden heaviosity will find highly satisfying, a kind of grinding, slow-
motion black hole psychedelia that has a similiar hypnotic death-
ritual quality as artists like Bloody Panda and Khanate, but with
their own unique trance state of swirling guitar textures, horrific
jet black dronescapes and ghoulish, excoriating vocals. Features
members of the PDX psych-sludge outfit Tecumseh (Important Records).
This CD edition of the TREE's debut comes in a Stoughton printed 4-
panel gatefold case. "

Treetops - Brighter Light (CDR) - Blackest Rainbow $10.00
"Mike Pollard is basically the man right now, not only does he do this
awesome project called Treetops thats had some killer stuff on
Ecstatic Peace, Not Not Fun, DNT and Gilgongo, but he runs one of my
favourite labels Arbor. So i'm psyched to be releasing this disc from
him. Sounding like some kind of 70s cavern ritual nightmare
throughout, tapping, churning weirdness with occasional patterred
drums, shattering cymbals, and more full on room engulfing density-
intensity. Comes in full colour collage sleeves designed by Bethany of
Pocahaunted. Handnumbered edition of 100 on black bottomed cdrs."

Tumul - shirt design #2 (TSHIRT) - Carbon Records $10.00
light gray shirts with various color stencils/sprays, including blue,
black, white, pink, yellow, etc.

Various Artists - AA Records Compilation Vol II (LP) - AA Records $15.00
"This LP features the next 13 lathes since the first comp = Isis &
Werewolves, Ex-Cocaine, Mirror/Dash, Pengo, Christina Kubisch, Birds
of Delay, Sick Llama, Jackie Stewart, Evil Moisture, Prurient, Rusted
Shut, Carlos Giffoni, 16 Bitch Pile-Up, Demons. All the messy
atmosphere of lathes on freshly pressed vinyl, weird!"

Various Artists - don't teach a man to bake, teach him to eat -- Joe+N
2007 Day-Tour Recordings (CDR) - Carbon Records $10.00
2 disc set consisting of recordings from the Joe+N 2007 Day-Tour. The
theme of this day-tour was to incorporate each of the bands Joe was
involved in at the time. So each stop on the tour, a different Joe+N
related band would perform either acoustically or with battery-powered
amps/instruments. The release consists of tracks from Joe+N, Tumul,
Tuurd, Entente Cordiale, Deciduous vs Conifer, Crush the Junta and Ada
le O (with guests). [packaged in a 5x7x1 box, sprayed/splattered,
stickered and taped shut. along with sprayed cdrs]

"Co-released with Phage Tapes. One track from each on the vinyl,
Limited to 300 total copies. First 100 copies Come with a 3" with an
addition exclusive track from each artist."

Wildildlife - Six (CD) - Crucial Blast $12.00
"A couple months ago (we’re talking mid-Spring ‘07, here),
I received an email from Robotic Empire boss Andy Low commanding me to
check out a couple of songs that a band from San Francisco called
Wildildlife had posted online, immediately. I knew that the dude has a
solid idea of what kind of sounds I’m into, so I pulled up the
link immediately and was totally blown away by the two Wildildlife
tunes that I heard. Heavy, crunchy riffage rolling over celestial FX
freakout and gang choral voices, part pop, part neo-psychedelic
noisiness, part metalloid skullcrush. Super melodic and catchy but
vaguely menacing and dark all at the same time. The band toured
through here about a month later, and I was even more floored by their
manic live energy; the band summoned up a wicked whirlpool of dense
distorto crunch and freaky singing, raging metallic percussive pummel,
tribal rhythms and crushing effects-soaked guitars, subdued
floatational drones and ecstatically gorgeous melodies, all let loose
in a series of sky-streaking eruptions of psychedelic lowcore and
swirling, cosmic sludge. Going back to a review that Terrascope
Magazine wrote about one of the band's earlier CD-R releases, this
sounds vaguely like Black Sabbath and Butthole Surfers jamming
together with ancient forest mystics, an experience both brutal and
beautiful, and which proves that Wildildlife have already established
themselves as serious purveyors of blown-out psych heaviness. These
guys have become one of my favorite new bands, and I’m MEGA
excited to be presenting their first full length Six through Crucial
Blast. The CD version of Six comes in a posh, full-color 4-panel
gatefold jacket printed by Stoughton Printers, which houses the disc
and a full-color 8-page booklet filled with amazing, surreal
photographs by Sabina Holber."

WOLF EYES, SICK LLAMA, RAVEN STRAIN - live at Oberlin (DVDR) - AA
Records $12.00
"Oberlin rules because even though it's a school there's a bar with
good beer and the bar is like 20 feet from the stage. What happens
when you have a bar on a campus and a killer gig = Wolf Eyes, Sick
Llama, Raven Strain? Witness the mayhem that ensues! Someone gets so
excited they pull the fire alarm to jam along! This dvd has all you
would expect from a truly wasted line up playing in Ohio. Lots of
slamming, lots of pits and lots people you know. Sounds from Raven
Strain and Sick Llama to make you pass out and puke, and a slam
section from Wolf Eyes for the masochistic minded."

Yellow Swans - Deterioration Yellow Swans (CD) - Modern Radio $12.00
"Yellow Swans make the kind of colossally heart-breaking noise that
transforms any sober, regular hour you have in a day into some sort of
warm, pressurized fever dream. Like a nap you didn’t expect to
take, a nap where you dream about people you thought you’d lost,
or about faint and slightly unnerving childhood memories. The kind of
dream you wake up from and can still taste in your throat. Those
already familiar with the duo, I would hope, know this firsthand. â
€œDeterioration” was originally a cassette only available for
a few dates of a European tour. Like a majority of their releases, it
is relatively hard to come by. But Modern Radio has given it a proper
CD release, and so much the better, for it is certainly an excellent
launching point for those uninitiated to the duo—me, included.
And though I was bummed to learn that I would not likely be hearing
any more from Pete Swanson and Gabriel Saloman’s Yellow Swans
moniker, I am sure to be spending the next month or so searching all
corners of the internet for the most limited of their releases as
though sick with addiction. “Deterioration” opens with the
21 minute near-masterpiece “Broken Eraser/ Time Stretch”.
Though it builds up patiently and sustains churning, almost
transparent melodies through ever changing layers of thick, glorious
drones, the piece ends rather abruptly, opting to rather listlessly
fade out quickly as opposed to leaving as patiently as it enters. in
all honesty, I wanted the intricacies of “Broken Eraser/ Time
Stretch” to last the entire release. Though the subsequent tracks
are undeniably pretty, they don’t seem to sustain the rapturous,
grinding blend of guitar, electronics, and vocals, let alone careen
through multiple, seamlessly implemented movements as well as their
predecessor. “Reintegration” and “Burnt dub”
greatly reduce the number of layers, each focus on a simple guitar
sequence then gradually swell the presence of static to give way to a
beautifully sounding drone that serves as a slightly disappointing
climax. “Burnt Dub” closes with a wailing, high pitched
guitar solo that is again rather gracelessly faded out, a trope I just
can’t help but now find unnecessary the second time around. The
brief untitled fourth track lays down a slab of cavernous, low pitched
ambience below trembling watery electronics that foreshadow the final
track “Dirty Heads”, a full fifteen minutes of moaning
vocals and slowly oscillating guitar feedback, tinged with burst of
pulsating high pitched electronics. It’s a lot gauzier than the
intro, though it has a little less going on in its more obviously
separated, rather similar movements—each progressively shorter
than the last. “Deterioration” closes out to a blast of
distant power strumming that sounds like its being broadcast from an
approaching helicopter, a perfectly fitting ending were it not the
third outro-quality movement of the track. “Deterioration”
did launch me into warm and slightly unsettling daydreams, but there
was willingness on my part, as opposed to the times I accidently put
myself to sleep toying around with low frequency oscillators.
Something about Yellow Swans is at first incredibly arresting and then
deeply comforting to the point of hypnosis. “Deterioration”
showcases that right off the bat, as well as with its more striped
down middle. Though I caught myself pleasantly drooling as “Dirty
Heads” gave its blasting outro, repeated listens find the latter
half sometimes disappointing, though still as remarkable and intricate
as it’s opening piece." Foxy Digitalis -- John Ganiard (18 June,
2008)

   Enjoy the musical trip!

Don't hesitate to forward this mail to people who could be interested in it.

If you have a website you may set the link of my show on it if you wish.

Thanks to those who send me the wonderful cd's.

Links of music are welcome but I can't use them in my show. It's technically too
complicated to use them.Only if you can send them by mail as a cd version it
would be possible that I can use them for the show.

If you would like to receive the weekly playlist just send a mail to
moacrealsloa@... with in the subject field "playlist".

All feedback is welcome in english , french , german or dutch.

Kind regards,

Nico
