Recently, one of the members of Grupo Cuero y Cajon (from the
Pogolotti section of Havana) "escaped" Cuba. He is now in Kyle,
Texas, of all places. I thought I would send out a message to the
list to see if anyone has info on the scene around Austin, San
Antonio, or even Houston. As a tumbadora player, he could work in pop
groups (salsa, latin jazz, etc), but would also obviously be very keen
on playing religious ceremonies (cajon, bembe, guiro, etc). If anyone
has info on the scenes around there, please let me know and I'll pass
the information along to him. Thanks!
