Bulber Auditorium. Direction of the piece will be particularly poignant because it will also be performed as a tribute to Gates, who died of pancreatic cancer in May 2007.

The McNeese Wind Symphony will also perform other 20th century works, including "Tempered Steel" by Charles Rochester Young, "Pageant" by Vincent Persichetti, "The Promise of Living" by Aaron Copland, "Folk Dances" by Dmitri Shostakovich and two energetic works by University of Florida composition professors Paul Basler and Paul Richards. The Wind Symphony will include area high school musicians and music educators as part of the McNeese Clarinet Ensemble, under the direction of McNeese professor Jan Scott.

Formerly billed as Chris Shearman, my son's band "Devil and the Details" will be
performing at Luna this Saturday April 12 at 10:00 pm. It's a great venue and
the only
scene like it in town, party outside under the stars. Hope to see everyone

Title:   Lake Charles Community Band Concert

Date:   Monday April 7, 2008
Time:   7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location:   Lake Charles-Boston Academy of Learning Ð Auditorium
Notes:   Were you Born To Be Wild? A member of St. PepperÕs Lonely Hearts Club Band? Is Winchester Cathedral getting you down? Then on Monday, April 7 at 7 p.m. you need to Ease On Down the Road to the Musical Mystery Tour of the Lake Charles Community Band at the Lake Charles-Boston Academy of Learning Auditorium, 1509 Enterprise Boulevard.

To celebrate 40 years since the release of the BeatlesÕ album Magical Mystery Tour in November 1967, Rod Lauderdale, with a little help from his friends in the band, will be waiting to take you away down memory lane with music selections from the era.

Remember ÒYesterday,Ó ÒWith a Little Help From My Friends,Ó ÒEleanor Rigby,Ó and ÒHere Comes the SunÓ from the Fab Four, ÒBreaking Up Is Hard to DoÓ by Neal Sedaka, ÒSurf CityÓ and ÒThe Little Old Lady from PasadenaÓ from the Beach Boys? Of course LouisianaÕs own Al Hirt made ÒSugar Lips,Ó ÒJavaÓ, and ÒCotton CandyÓ famous in the Ô60s. Another trumpeter, Herb Alpert, along with the Tijuana Brass brought us ÒSpanish Flea,Ó ÒWhipped Cream,Ó ÒThe Lonely Bull,Ó and the ÒTijuana TaxiÓ during the same decade. Composer Henry Mancini brought us movie hits ÒMoon RiverÓ from Breakfast at TiffanyÕs, ÒBaby Elephant WalkÓ from Hatari, ÒCharadeÓ and ÒThe Pink PantherÓ as well as TV show themes ÒMr. LuckyÓ and ÒPeter Gunn.Ó

As always, this concert is free. So come and Take A Walk On the Wild Side. And if you can remember Woodstock, you werenÕt there!

The Lake Charles Community Band is supported by a partnership grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana and the City of Lake Charles and is also supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana.

Time:   7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Location:   F.G. Bulber Auditorium on the McNeese Campus
Notes:   Now touring for the first time since its 1920 release, the feature-length movie “The Mark of Zorro" is coming to Lake Charles. And the original, Spanish-flavored score will be played by Rick Benjamin’s Paragon Orchestra. The Paragon Orchestra will perform the complete original score, written and timed to the action taking place on stage. So you'll hear a full band perform great music -- and you haven’t seen Zorro until you’ve seen Douglas Fairbanks Sr. playing him. He was a born action hero, a natural acrobat and stuntman, and really truly handsome.
Supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by The Arts and Humanities Council of SWLA.

$20 adults, $5 students, free to McNeese students with ID

Title:   Barbe High School Choir Concert LMEA Choral Festival

Date:   Tuesday March 18, 2008
Time:   1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Location:   Westlake High School Auditorium
Notes:   This Tuesday, there will be a performance of Keith's "Jeanne d'Arc"
by the Barbe H.S. choir, of Lake Charles, LA. Chris Miller, who has
performed in the premieres of several of Keith's works, will be
conducting.

"Jeanne d'Arc", with words by Susan Ludvigson, is a work of great
power. I have no doubt that those who attend will find the
performance unforgettable.

If you are asking how to invite friends to join the group, that would be in the left menu, invite under promote. If this is not what you are asking about let me know.
