What do I think? I thought manufacturing groups (boy bands and girl bands) was
what got the music industry in trouble in the first place. So are LDS audiences
just 10 or 20 years behind the times and won't notice?
Says Siler, the producer, "They bring more to this project than just their
voices - they are wives, mothers and friends - and they are willing to share
honestly from their experiences to bless others. That's what listeners will
respond to."
Gosh, I thought listeners responded to the music. You notice no mention is ever
made about who will be writing the music. It doesn't appear it will be the
singers.
I think Deseret Book is expecting lightning to strike twice. However, it might
really strike this time. Hope Castleton and Deseret Book have invested in
lightning rods as well as this project. Marketing to teens is one thing.
Marketing to moms while they "mop the floor" is quite another.

Subject: [ldsmusicians] New formula: woman bands?
Tyler Castleton, father of Jericho Road's boy band (I think) has now
auditioned a bunch of women and formed a "woman band" called
Providence. The group is apparently already being hyped big-time,
with a release not until Feb 2004. Music to mop to. I got this from
my Deseret Book news link.

What do you all think of this? Is it big in Utah?
