True, but our stake is not known for correctly understanding the music guidelines from headquarters. I've certainly got prescedent to fall back on!

That’s an excellent use of technology, Jim — and I can’t imagine why any bishop could possibly object, especially given these two facts:
- The church intalls organs by Rodgers and Allen which are specifically engineered to church specs — if there is a MIDI interface on the organ, it was obviously meant to be used, and
- In smaller meetinghouses (e.g. Branch chapels), the organ being installed is a small, 1M Rodgers which has all of the LDS hymns pre-programmed in, and they can be played at the touch of a button, when no organist is available to play. If your other organist is recuperating, and you’re busy directing the choir, I’d say you certainly fall into eligibility for pre-recorded accompaniment!
Eric — maybe now you can add a nice percussion and bass line to “Come, Come Ye Saints”
On 12/8/04 7:38 AM, Jim said something about:
I did something that I'm totally excited about! Our ward has two
people who play the organ...me and an older man who has a swollen leg
& can't do it right now. I am the choir director, and one of the
hymn medleys that I arranged for our Christmas program is with organ
accompaniment. Since I wrote it out in Finale, it can play through a
MIDI connection.
I took my computer to the church and plugged in the MIDI cables to
the organ, which also has a digital recorder. I had my computer play
the song through the organ while I recorded the stop & volume changes
at the same time so now the organ will play our accompaniment all by
itself! I'm a little nervous at how our bishop will react, but he
won't find out until we actually DO it!
Jim
