Saint's Unified Voices came to Atlanta this weekend. It was wonderful. Many local celebrities were in attendance for the fireside/concert I attended and it was so good to hear the strong, clear, and uncensored testimonies that this is the true church and how they came to find it. It was good to see people of all races (including stake leaders!) stand up and clap and enjoy themselves with the music. The music was also superb and a perfect preparation for the words which were shared. Especially in Atlanta, where, as Gladys put it, "Some wards are mostly vanilla, and some are mostly chocolate, but my favorite is fudge ripple," and where there is definitely a societal attitude against the church, this concert did what nothing else could do. People left with an undeniable understanding of the church that they would have otherwise not had right now.
I absolutely loved the arrangement of "I am a Child of God." (I was hoping to hear "Come, Come, Ye Saints" but it wasn't programmed.) I brought along one of my former students whose family I am working with to share the gospel. He wants to go into music when he's older, and this was a great thing for him to see. I can't say enough, but I also can't go on without rambling and repeating myself, so I'll stop. If you don't have the album, "One Voice," it's time to get it. If you have the chance to see them in concert, do what it takes to get those valuable tickets! (I have known about and waited for this concert since October, and on the Sunday they announced it, by the time I finished two verses of postlude and made it to the ward mission leader, I was 21st on the waiting list!)
