Recently someone in an e-mail group said that he doesn't like hymns because
"compared to other songs, they just don't have any passion or fire." I respect
their
opinion, but I assure you this remark brought up some passion and fire in me, as
hymn are the most passionate and fiery songs I know!
As a kind but lengthy rebuttal to his remark, I am starting to write an
article about the Passion and Fire in Hymns - how they get into hymns and how to
feel them.
I would appreciate and enjoy remarks from anyone who would like to respond to me
that I may quote you or use your ideas in this article. I would also enjoy
hearing
what hymns have these emotions for you and how and why... or any other remarks.
I
would also enjoy remarks as to why hymns don't have passion and fire and why and
what can be done about it. I would appreciate honest and frank remarks both pro
and
con.
Please let me know if I may name you in the article or if you would rather
remain unknown.
I do hope to publish the article, but If nothing else I will post this
article
with other hymn-related articles I've posted on my website.
Thank You
