Sorry for the mass email, but this is a really great organization that
provides free music education to children in war-torn countries. We raised
some funds for it last year and I think it is a worthy cause.
All the best, Ryan
P.S. The organization is non-denominational, but for you LDS types out
there I thought you might be interested that the founder is an LDS
composer, Liz Shropshire.

Dear Friends:
Do you play the piano? Is your guitar gathering dust in the closet? Do
you have a cousin who teaches voice lessons? A grandchild studying
clarinet? A neighbor with a weekend garage band? If you play, teach, or
study music, or have musical friends, coworkers, or relatives, I'm
inviting you to take part in a fantastic new fundraiser for the Shropshire
Music Foundation. Just by practicing your instrument, you can help us
provide free musical instruments and music lessons to war-impacted
children throughout the world!
This November, Practice for Peace will bring together musicians, music
teachers, and music students around the globe to dedicate their regular
practice time to raise money for our programs. Here's how it works:
participants sign-up friends, relatives, or businesses to sponsor them
with a pledge of pennies, nickels, dimes, or quarters for each minute they
spend practicing in November. At the end of the month, our participants
tally their practice minutes and collect pledges.
Imagine a worldwide orchestra of music students diligently practicing on
their flutes, mandolins, keyboards, or snare drums, every minute raising
money to help former child soldiers in Uganda and child refugees in
Kosovo!
Would you like to Practice for Peace? Download pledge sheets, practice
logs, and publicity materials at www.teachingchildrenpeace.com.
Do you know a music student, musician or music teacher? Help us spread the
word! Pass along this letter or craft a personal invitation of your own.
Tell your friends why you believe in the Shropshire Music Foundation and
our work making peace through music.
Want to sponsor an international student musician? Find photos and
biographies on our “Sponsor a Child (
http://www.teachingchildrenpeace.com/sponsor.html )” webpage or donate
directly ( http://www.teachingchildrenpeace.com/waystohelp.html ) to the
Foundation.
Every dollar we raise will go directly to providing instruments,
materials, and instruction for the war-impacted children we serve in
Europe and Africa.
Hoping you will join Practice for Peace in November!
