Your research paper sounds so interesting. My opinion is that Ebony
was just going with the flow and reporting on what was happening as
it happened and Lena was a big star that deserved coverage. It's
only in retrospect that these issues of "contradictions" come up.
Still they are very interesting. Did you know there's a new
biography of Lena coming out soon?

What we would typically consider contradictions within her image are
actually a part of African American culture (i.e. normal). I'm also
going to argue Ebony handles few real contradictions in her image
(e.g. when she marries LH) because of her importance of her place
within African American culture and history. If you are interested,
