There has been some brief discussion here before about Lena Horne's
appearance on "The Judy Garland Show." However, I have to admit I've
never seen the show; it's on my "Must Buy" list of DVDs.

In the past discussion about the show, I asked one of the posters
about an account I read. I couldn't remember the title or the author
of the book, but one poster suggested I may have read it in Mel
Torme's book since he was the musical director of Judy's show. What
I recall reading in that book was a description of how bothered Lena
was about Judy's late appearances to rehersals. Knowing of Judy's
past reputation for now show, Lena reportedly asked, "What's with
this chic?" Another poster said of the show, "It almost didn't
happen." I've read the show includes a "Lena does Judy/Judy does
Lena" where the two of them sing each other's songs. Would love to
see this!
