I'm not sure. I thought I recalled so from reading it several years ago.

I have a copy of the hardcover and I am looking through it now. It
says "A personal and professional biography of Lena Horne" but nowhere
does it say "an UNauthorized biography" so you could be right. In
Acknowledgements it lists Joan "Halimah" Brooks, Dalili Davis, Ann L.
Kakhoff and Frances Williams. If it was authorized wouldn't Lena have
given the authors access to more insiders or additional individuals to
interview?

I have not read this entire book but I've read large sections. It
certainly chronicles Lena's entire career and includes portions
reviews and write ups that I enjoyed reading. It is so different from
her autobiography that I am wondering how it could be authorized.
There's a lot of suck up which it to be expected. Maybe Lena wants to
be seen in the way she's depicted in this book. Some of it is weird.
Have you read it?
