LENA and Barbra Streisand, Elizabeth Taylor   Message List

Hi all, I just read something on the datalounge that made me think
of the first time I heard Lena sings "Napleon is a pastry" in
Jamiaca.

Someone compared Lena's singing to how Streisand sang at the
beginning of her career:

"Thank you R2. I freaked out when I listened to JAMAICA and realized
that Barbra took so much from Lena, it's eerie. By the way, I'll
take Lena's voice anyday"

I think so too! Is there any member old enough who remembers it?
Has Barbra ever given Lena credit for how she formulated her singing
style?

Elizabeth Taylor. There have been lots of photos on Ebay this week
of Lena and Elizabeth, including this one:

Are they/were they friends?
