Isn't there a line somewhere that says: I would
never be in a club that would have me as a member? Well
here I am and loving it! I've been a Kottke fan since
High School and his first album "6 & 12 String
Guitar". Seen him in concert more times then I can
remember and I'm still amazed by his magic playing. Last
saw him play in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 11. To
torment myself I'm also a Kottke whannabe guitar player.
I have both the 6 and 12 string version of the
Taylor LKSM models (the 12 string was actually use by
Leo), a 1963 Gibson B-45, a 1977 Bozo 12 string, and a
1980 Greven 12 string. Because of the depth of his
playing it's hard for me to even pick a favorite song....
he did some unrecorded stuff at the last concert I
went to.... was really beautiful.... included also
that night were "Vaseline Machine Gun" & "Jack Fig" ,
wonderful pieces from the past. He talked about the death
of his friend John Fahey. After I got home from the
concert I listen to both Leo and John's music and tried
to imagine the both of them playing music together
in a bowling alley (part of his story) way back
when.
