Saw Leo just a little while ago in a high school
auditorium.He wears that same rumpled navy blue golf shirt
every time I see him.What is his problem? For awhile it
was those white button down collar shirts.Now it's
the navy blue golf shirt,and it's not just that,it's
that he doesn't even tuck it in.He might as well be
out mowing his lawn or snoozing on the couch.Maybe he
doesn't have any other clothes.Maybe he just doesn't
care.I wouldn't care either if I was Leo.Man, the guy
can play.What is it? I can never figure out how he
does that.It sounds impossible! He played Mona Ray ,he
played I Yell at Traffic,he played Too Fast.He never
plays too fast though.The concert was over too fast
though.He played for an hour and 45 minutes.The fastest
hours and forty five minutes I ever got through.He
always makes those faces when he doesn't pull off a
note..like we care Leo.It all sounds like glory,like gold,
like some divine sonification.Still the guy makes this
face like he just caught his hand in a car door or
something.Must be tough to be Leo Kottke.It's way easier to be a
Leo Kottke listener.
