Thank you Karen for your email, I received yesterday Wednesday 5th
June 2002. So pleased to read I give pleasure in reading on "How I
Became A Leo Sayer Fan".
I too am greatly looking forward to Leo Sayer's new album he is
currently working on. You can now purchase the first three re-issues
of the original Leo Sayer ONE MAN BAND Series which are as follows:-
SILVERBIRD, JUST A BOY and ANOTHER YEAR. You can also pre-order the
second set of three re-issues which are as follows:- LEO SAYER,
ENDLESS FLIGHT and THUNDER IN MY HEART. You can order all of these
by going through the following website address:-www.amazon.co.uk
Each album contains bonus tracks, pictures from Leo's own archive
and a personal story told by Leo Sayer of his early recording
career. All is extremely very interesting, I can guarantee you. My
favorite is the SILVERBIRD album, which I listen too time and time
again. The album tells you the story of Leo's childhood where he was
born and raised in Shoreham, and his fascination of flying machines.
Leo would sit in his garden and watch the Silver Dykota's and Dragon
Rapedes, fly overhead to Shoreham airport - hoping one day they
might come and take him away. Oh no, they can't do that !...Leo also
recollects the early recording sessions with co-writer David
Courtney, in the basement of Wkyham Terrace which stands in the
middle of Brighton-Leo wishes to tell everybody. And recalls their
regular routines of bake beans on toast, and the acres of the
bakers. David Courtney recalls Leo going to Brighton from Shoreham
with his book, his book of lyrics and Leo tells us that the words in
the following songs Innocent Bystander, Drop Back and Silverbird all
come from poems, Leo wrote when he was a kid. I love the full song
and instrumental version of Silverbird. Adam Faith sadly wasn't too
impressed with the lyrics of Silverbird, and just took the unique
instrumental version. The Dancer, was worked on through the night
and the album Silverbird was originally going to be called THE
LOSER. It was a last minute decision to call it SILVERBIRD, with the
devises of Gerry Sayer, Leo Sayer was born...I love the following
bonus tracks on the album "LIVING IN AMERICA" and "QUICKSAND" which
was the only single ever to be recorded by Leo's second band
PATCHES, with Max Cheytwyn on guitar. Leo also recollects "Alan
Jones" a band member, and Leo succesfully gets David Courtney
thinking. As Leo says "Now I'm Making You Think" and chuckles...
I actually spoke to Adrian Collins on the phone last July supporting
Leo Sayer to get all of his albums re-released. And I got there for
Leo. I wasn't going to let Adrian get away with that one, oh no, and
Thankfully, Adrian agreed too me through mid conversation...
Leo Sayer was infact on the road in February this year, touring with
Toddsharpville, a musical friend of Leo Sayer. The UK tour was
throughout February and sadly I missed it. Otherwise I would have
deffinately have been there only if I had have had the tour details
in good time. This is why I am planning on going to see Leo Sayer
perform in America, it would be truely wonderful to see Leo Sayer
again and hope it won't be too long before Leo is back on the road
again on another UK tour and I'll deffinately be there too. Whatever
it takes, I goes to arms length, especially for Leo Sayer. All
February UK tours sold out except for the Shrewsbury show. You can
read about the bbc radio Shropshire Interview with Leo Sayer and the
Todd Sharpville band by going through the www.toddsharpville.com
website by clicking on one of the items listed. The interview is
extremely interesting where I learned that Leo Sayer is a world-
class harp player. I would love to see Leo Sayer play the harp on
stage one day at a concert that would be brilliant. I love watching
Leo play the harmonica and perform. Leo is an excellent showman all
round.
Todd Sharpville and Leo Sayer were promoting the new blues album
"THE MEANING OF LIFE" Todd Sharpville performs the song "BIRD ON A
WIRE" and Leo Sayer is featured in the song "I THINK I'M BLIND". Out
of the two, the best is with Leo Sayer.
You can see stunning pictures of Leo Sayer by going to the
Queenshall website address:-at my MSN and click on the "next" until
you get to where it lists Queenshall Narberth. You can also see the
stunning picture by going to the Toddsharpville website at
www.toddsharpville.com
Also on the MY MSN if you keep going through the pages you will see
the wonderful song title WHEN I NEED YOU, if you click on that you
will hear an instrumental version of this beautiful ballad Leo
Sayer's number one world wide hit.
I also posted a Leo Sayer question to the Leo Sayer Trivia page on
Leo Sayer Rolling Stones website. My user name there is my middle
name Esme. Just incase you wish to browse and find the question. I
could post a few more questions too. Think mine is the first one up
on the board.
Recollecting many happy memories of a very special night in
Blackpool Thursday October 14th 1999, I recall a wonderful
conversation I had with Leo. We talked about my holls there, and
when did I go there, and about my hotel. We then got onto a favorite
subject of Leo's - computers and modern day technology. "How far it
has gone above us all" Leo told me. Since then, Guess what ? I
passed my first computer course with a credit certificate Thanks to
Leo Sayer and blow Leo Sayer a big kiss with all my love to Leo
always.
Another recollection of the SILVERBIRD album is just to say that Max
Cheytwyn was the longest surving member of Patches. Max had a choice
of becoming famous, or take the tv set. Max took the tv set. Leo
chuckles saying "That was Max's way of saying Goodbye" I also love
the demo recording of Leo's song "IT'S A HARD LIFE" wonder if Leo
will re-release it on cd at all. I love the song. I look forward
greatly to receiving the next three re-issues of the original One
Man Band series of Leo Sayer. I have already placed my pre-order. I
also look forward greatly to Leo's new album and autobiography. I am
so pleased to read Leo writing an autobiography because I read that
he once tried to write a novel called THE AVENUE and sadly Leo had
no faith in it. Shame, I bet it would have been a brilliant novel.
So when I read on Leo's message stand by for news on his new
autobiography, I jumped for joy and am thrilled too bits too bits,
and look forward to when it comes out and the new television series
all due in 2003.
I just love Leo Sayer the whole world of, everytime I hear people
say LEO too me where ever I maybe, I hear them all and it brings me
back to full of life again. My thoughts and love are with Leo Sayer
always, in everything I do and everywhere I go.
Speak to you again soon,
With Kind Regards
From a
Devoted Leo Sayer fan always
Jackie Twine....
