Hi,
I don't know any names yet but I would like to talk
to anyone out there who was a fan and friend of Lew's.
I first met Lew in 1981, not long before his
retire-ment and that was the only time I got to see
him in person. I got to know him through
correspondence and he was a funny, caring and
thoughtful man. My daughter was young at the time and
since we had lived in town all her life she loved
driving around in the country. One day she was
watching some cattle and she wanted to know if cows
ever moved, because she swore she had never seen them
move. I wrote Lew and told him about it and he assured
her that yes, cows did move because he had made a
point of it to go look and make sure that they did.
Even toward the end when he felt so bad, he still
tried to answer my letters as often as he could. I
still miss him very much and even though his
incomparable tenor voice is resonating in Heaven's
choir, I sure miss it down here.
I would love to hear from anyone and swap stories
of the one and only.
Carolyn
