Look out for June 29th. That will mark the release of Jimmy Webb's new album
JUST ACROSS THE RIVER, which will feature Jimmy and many of his most ardent
admirers, including Linda herself (doing Jimmy's "All I Know", which had been a
big hit in the fall of 1973 for Art Garfunkel). For more, click on the link

Linda, Thanks for your humility and honesty when you visited me in the Distict
in 1984. It has really payed off. I am in school and will be in law school
gaduating by the time I am your present age. I am witing a book and I have an
italian gilfiend acrosss the Atlantic. Jose and Willow are just fine and,
thanks to you, they don't say they usedd to know me. You are a most moal woman
who keeps her promices; you said "We have talked for almost an hou. Wwill talk
again.' My majo in my senior yea at Ashford is Jounalism. I am witing some
articles fo community newspapers
, and maybe we can talk out a couple articles for City Pages when you come to
Minneapolis. Perhaps I could write something fo Tucson.
stvbraverman52@... bye for now
As I think most of us all know by now, Kenny Edwards, who was an integral part
of Linda's studio and road bands during the 1970s and also worked with a lot of
people that Linda knew, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 64. In the link
below, Linda shares her memories of her former bandmate, whom she says gave so
much often without receiving his due credit:

I have added several new pics of Our Girl in my "Lots Of Linda" photo album in
the photo section for everyone's perusal, most of which are fairly recent, but
one of which dates back to September 1975.

Much more could be said about this musician who was in support of Linda Ronstadt
- bass and vocals - through the Stone Poneys and her era of peak popularity. I
think he was a wonderful musician, and evidence of this can be seen on the live
You Tube segments.
We are losing quite a few musicians of this generation aren't we. For example
Paul Davis, Dan Fogleberg - while in Bread, only David Gates survives. Guys
disappearing in early 60s. Too young these days.
Full marks to Kenny.

At this time, I think we should reflect on the six who were killed, and the
other fourteen wounded, in last Saturday's terrible mass shooting in Linda's
home town. As fans of hers, I think we all feel the pain she most likely feels
about Tucson now suddenly being on the map and in the news for something this
horrific; and I pray that the people of Tucson find solace and peace from
knowing that fans of their hometown girl are with them in spirit.
Erik
Linda and her family were the first people I thought of when I heard about the
tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, families and friends of
the Arizona tragedy.

In case anyone missed it, Linda has given a fair amount of memorabilia and music
to the music school at the University of Arizona, the very college where she
spent all of three months as a student in the fall of 1964 before hightailing it
for L.A. and eventual pop music stardom. Details at this link:

Tucson legend Linda Ronstadt donates collection to UA
Pop music icon Linda Ronstadt recently donated orchestrations, memorabilia and
photographs to the University of Arizona School of Music.
Her collection also includes manuscripts from Nelson Riddle, with whom Ronstadt
had a longtime artistic relationship.
The collection joins that of other music greats housed at the UA: Riddle, Artie
Shaw, Jo Stafford and Les Baxter among them.
But having Ronstadt represented is a matter of national and hometown pride.
A Tucson native, Ronstadt attended the UA in the 1960s before she left for
California and a career in music. She went on to become Tucson and Arizona's
most famous pop star with an iconic, musically diverse career that spanned the
1970s and '80s.
Ronstadt scored No. 1 hits in country and rock, and then at the height of her
popularity, defied convention and recorded an album of Great American Songbook
gems and another of mariachi. She also has performed light opera, with roles in
Puccini's "La Boheme" and Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance."

I put this as being somewhat off the topic of Linda, but she has lost another
good friend in Phoebe Snow, who will always be remembered for her 1975 smash
"Poetry Man." Phoebe passed away at the all-too-young age of 60. Details in

Mortality must be on Linda's mind lately. In just the last year and a half, she
has seen the losses of Little Feat drummer Richie Hayward; Kate McGarrigle; her
longtime sideman Kenny Edwards; and, just this past April 26th, Phoebe Snow.
Now, sadly, another sideman of hers, Andrew Gold, has unexpectedly died of a
heart attack. Andrew, whose instrumental handiwork is over a lot of Linda's
mega-classic 1974 album HEART LIKE A WHEEL, was only 59. Details are in the
link below:

Erik
So sorry to hear about that. Linda must be devastated! "Oh What A Lonely Boy"
was one of his hits--I'm playing that on Pandora music.
Thanks for writing.
peace--gloria

Seems like yesterday I had her posters on my wall and her albums blasting
through my stereo. My mother would walk in and tell me to turn the music UP! lol
We all love Linda and I hope she has the best birthday ever.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDA!
