Dear band folks,
Please note the following schedule changes for guard and band:
Because we are off school this coming Tuesday for elections, I had discussed with the band students that we may have rehearsal on Monday evening. However, between spring sports tryouts, play practice, and other regular activities that students have on Monday evenings, I think we would be missing too many people to have a productive practice. Therefore, we will not have concert band rehearsal on Monday, and our next rehearsal will be on Tuesday, March 9 from 2:30-5. We will instead have musical orchestra rehearsal on Monday (March 1), from 3-5:30.
Practice sheets for this week have been collected and are being recorded. Sheets for this week are due on Wednesday, March 3. Drop practice sheets in the bins outside my office, and pick up new ones from the stack in front of the bins. Students do NOT need to add extra practice time for next week because we are not having band rehearsal this week. Just try to do the regular amount.
Our basketball team is doing really well and has made the playoffs. Their first game is this Tuesday, which knocks our guard out of the new gym. Because we don't have school on Tuesday, we've been able to secure gym time from 1-4pm on March 2. Guard students are asked to make every effort to attend, but we understand that this is not a great deal of notice. Those with conflicts should bring in a note as usual. Additional schedule changes may be made if the team continues to win.
Our guard travels to Chambersburg for a competition this weekend, so best of luck to them!
Please note that our trip chaperone meeting will be on Monday March 8th at 6, and that our mandatory meeting for students and parents will be on Monday March 15th. The chaperone meeting will be in the band room, and the parent/student meeting will be in the theater. There will be a number of forms to complete, so you may want to bring a hard surface like a notebook to write on and a
pen as well.
I will be doing a teaching residency in Texas from March 3-7. E-mails and phone calls received during that time will be answered after I return on Monday, March 8.
