NEWS:
Back into the swing of things.
Marc and Drop Trio?
Marc has been in talks with Drop Trio about joining the group on
bass and guitar. Drop Trio is an all-instrumental funk based jazz
band from Houston. They are about to release their first record
titled "Big Dipper" that was recorded at Sugar Hill Studios.
"They have been a favorite of mine since I first heard them," Marc
says. " I am looking to add a part of me to the mix, but I am a big
fan of DT and would never want to change that formula." Marc has
played with them for a few Austin gigs and this Friday will be the
first Houston gig. It will be at The Last Concert Café on Friday
April 18. Showtime is 9:30pm. The first of three bands. Info
below.
Bro Sure's "Urban Ocean" soon to be released.
Bro Sure is about to ship off the final master for their first full-
length record "Urban Ocean". The date for this release is now on
course; expect a CD release party within the next few months. Bro
Sure may do the show with Zwee as an acoustic set or share the bill
with his full band. Will keep you updated.
LBP starts back up.
Little Brother Project is back this week. They will be continuing
their reign of Wednesday nights at Deans. Ziggy, one of the owners
of Deans, has just informed us that he has begun to advertise in the
Houston Press and has listed Little Brother Project for Wednesday
nights. He has LBP billed as "the ultimate jam band". Quite a
complement for them. "Looks like the whole `acid jazz' charade is
coming to an end," Marc says. "It only took a year for them to
figure us out." LBP will be having their one-year anniversary party
on Thursday July 3rd at Deans. Also, look for a few Friday night
gigs in the future as well as a Sherlocks gig with Zwee. More info
will follow regarding these gigs in the future.
Don't forget about the Houston Press awards.
