After this weeks show we will be taking the next two weeks off from
Deans. Since the last two weeks have been short emails, (I have
been sick, gosh give a brother some sympathy) this will be a bit
long.

Details in a few weeks.

My little trip to Mardi Gras.

We were scheduled to leave at 8 but the flight was running late. So
we decided we needed coffee. Coffee is a great idea when you are
about to board a plane. Not only do you talk off the ear of the
person you are with, the ten people in your immediate vicinity get
to hear you blurt out things that should be for the one person you
are with. Needless to say, the woman heard what was said and gave a
dirty look. But oh well, it was just a harmless observation with no
actual insult meant and we will never see her again. So we arrive
and check in. During this time a couple walks in the front door and
to our surprise it's our new best friend who heard the wonderful
things we had to say. That is a great feeling. Then the next day we
eat at a restaurant in the French Quarter and sure enough, the
couple sat next to us. That's an even better felling.

So it rained all day and was quite cold. In the famous words of
Mathew Wilder "Aint nobody gonna breaka my stride". It didn't faze
us a bit. I mean, we were in New Orleans, it was Mardi Gras and it
was Valentines Day. So lets eat. The only problem with the food in
New Orleans is the overabundance. It's sort of like having 300
television stations. You see one restaurant you want to fill
yourself up with fried deliciousness in then, you wonder what's on
the next station or around the corner.

Turns out, Lindsey has a strange reaction to fried food and insists
on flashing her breasts at every given chance. I counted 4 times
before 10pm and she was totally sober. OK, I made that up. But,
we did eat enough fried food to feed a small village or kill an
elephant. Take your pick. All in all, it was a great trip. I
totally recommend the real Mardi Gras. It's just one of those
things in life you should never miss out on.

(By the way, always remember to ask the locals how they feel about
this carnival. Not only will you get your ear talked off about how
much they hate the tourists, the traffic and how it's the same thing
every year, you will find yourself trying to decipher that thick,
thick Louisiana accent. It can be quite entertaining and is part of
New Orleans amazing charm.)
