So we are invited to play an outside gig at a great little ice house
in Houston. It was a good show and it reminded me of all the changes
we have had to make to play at certain venues over the years. I wanted
to share a moment so you can enjoy a chuckle of what happens on stage,
sometimes. (As well as how I am apparently handled with a delicate
hand by our management)
I mentioned that LBP has handled a ton of changes over the years,
members coming and going, and playing songs vs. all improvised music
vs. covers. Big gigs with huge response and audience participation to
intimate gigs where you can hear a pin drop. We have always been able
to adapt to the changes and smile doing it. One thing has been
consistent, loud, in your face, GUITAR!!!
So when a club says turn it down, it's always directed at someone
else. When a club says turn it down 5 times in 10 minutes, it must be
because the drums are too loud or maybe the bass is the problem. When
we are asked for the 7th time in 20 mins, Tyson pops up from the crowd
to discuss it with us on stage. He looks at everyone, says a few
positive motivational words. Explains that we need to do as they wish
so we can come back, (FYI, next time will be acoustic), and finally
looks at me with puppy dog eyes and says "I hate to say it man but it
really is the guitar that's too loud."
Nope, he must have been crazy that night….I mean, who has ever heard
of a guitar player setting his amp too loud?……..it must have been the
drums. (ouch!)

The Scene
Contemporary art by local artisans adorns the walls, and tiny metal tables with
South
American Kokopelli-type creatures carved into the tops line a performance area,
with
larger tables to accommodate larger groups. Brasil frequently hosts musicians of
all
persuasions, from fusion jazz to experimental noise to ambient grooves. You
might be
able to catch a traveling poetry slam team or a group of local poets and writers
giving a
public reading.
The Food
If you get a yen for refreshments during the entertainment, Brasil boasts a wide
selection
of coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks and herbal teas. You can also order pizza,
sandwiches or
Brasil's spinach quiche, a treat to die for.

LBP is playing this Saturday (11/10) at Deans Credit Clothing. Back to
where it all began.
We have spent the last year working on our new record titled, Glass
Houses. We did a few things different this time around. We stopped
gigging while we were writing and recording. We worked with Gordon Payne, an
accomplished producer, songwriter, author and musician. His influence has
helped us create some of our best material yet.
We are currently in the post production phase and the record is due
out early 2008.
We are starting back on the scene with this Deans show and it is the
first of a few we will have before the end of the year.
We invite you out for two full sets of LBP at the place that we got
our start. They have a new high end sound system, no cover and LBP

Quick!!! Before I get so old that I have to use a walker to get into

you kid's these days". Before I go through a mid life crisis and buy a
red convertible sports car. Before I start canceling gigs because "I
just can't stay out that late anymore". Before I have to start wearing
adult diapers…(Yuck. As usual, I had to take it one too far.)

See you this weekend!
WAYNE'S WORLD PARTY TIME EXCELLENT. DIDDLEY DIDDLEY DIDDLEY. ahem cough cough....ok sorry.
Yes its true! LBP has been asked to perform on Television for the first time. We will be promoting our Warehouse Live show on Tuesday (7/18) as well as our new record and other gigs coming up. I have made the Wayne's World joke every chance possible and I have received a few mixed responses. Originally I wanted to learn the theme and make the joke on air (the show is live) but between Coy's response of "I dare you....but if you do it your a dead man" and Tyson saying "um...do you really want to insult the host of the show you are performing on?" I have been shushed. You see, that is how LBP works. I come up with a hilarious idea (if I do say so myself), Coy tells me I am an idiot and Tyson finds a way to diplomatically shut me up. Ever noticed how I have a microphone at all LBP shows but I don't sing? Its in case the moment hits and my oh so famous diarrhea of the mouth kicks into high gear. Its the only time I can bypass Coy and Tyson. When I get inspired I have to run with it. "You cant manufacture inspirado."-JB
Anyway, we will be performing two acoustic songs and doing an interview on Saturday July 15 between 2-3 pm (cst) on Time Warner channel 17. (other channel info below). We also have a very busy week of shows coming up and a write up in the Houston Chronicle that will be out on Thursday July 20. All of the information you need is below. Don't forget to set your DVR!!!

We have a jam-packed weekend of LBP and hope you can share it with us.
First we are off to Austin for two nights. Then back in Houston on
Monday for a special show.
Come on out to Nat's on Friday night (6/30) for a no cover show with 2
sets of LBP. Saturday we open for the well-known band LARRY at the
Troubadour Saloon. Jabarvy starts on Saturday at 8. LBP at 9:30.
Larry at 11:30.
On Monday July 3rd we play a special Pre 4th of July Party at Dan
Electro's in Houston. This is our first headlining gig at Dans and you
know you all have the 4th off so some show some love and get your
chance to be in the chronicle!!!
The Houston Chronicle is taking photos of LBP for a write up and
interview that will be released in July. We are currently recording,
playing a few gigs in between studio dates and have the privilege of
being featured by Houston's largest newspaper. We will talk about our
new record, working with a producer, how Phyve likes to create "forts"
out of sheets on our out of town travels. Or maybe how Tyson always
seems to get lost then magically reappears right before its time to
move to the next destination. Or maybe how Coy is the designated
driver and gets pissed at Marc because he always says "I will stay
sober with you" and then hands off his Ipod and says "Its like I am
with you in spirit!!!" then falls asleep. I could go on and on. Come
be a part of it.
Friday 6/30 – LBP plays two sets starting at 9pm.

From the Festival Organizers
Hey everyone,
The stages are up, the port-o-let piazza and fencing are in place,
and we officially can't sleep. ATX Fest is here!
We can't wait to see you all out at the Paggi House this weekend. And
to help make your weekend the best it can possibly be, here are some
tips:
1. Parking is very limited. Please CARPOOL or take public
transportation. A main bus line drops folks off right at Riverside and
Lamar. For those driving to the fest, we have created a special map of
all free parking near the Paggi House - it should help you find your
space: http://www.atxfest.com/ATX%20FEST%20PARKING%20MAP.PDF
2. The forecast is calling for a chance of rain late tomorrow night,
so be sure you come prepared. Note that umbrellas and tarps are NOT
allowed, so bring a jacket or even a poncho. ATX Fest is rain or shine!
3. Download and bring with you the schedule:
http://www.atxfest.com/2006-SCHEDULE.pdf . We'll have a few banners of
the schedule posted around the venue as well. Be sure to take a chance
on a band you haven't heard before; you can read up on them at our
lineup page, http://www.atxfest.com/lineup.php, and even listen to a
track or two.
4. If you feel sick or dehydrated, please find a staff or volunteer
and we will take you to our First Aid tent. Be sure to drink a lot of
water during the day and find some shade (there is a lot of it at the
Paggi House).
5. Have FUN! Pay a visit to our arts and crafts booths, enjoy the
food from Paggi House, take a break from the fest along the Town Lake,
and dance until you can't stand up with all of the excellent music you
will hear this weekend.
Remember that a Friday pass is $13, and a Saturday pass is $18. A two
day pass can also be purchased at the door for $30, and it also gives
you re-entry privileges.
Thanks and we will see you there!

For those of you who missed our "special show" (4/5 at Continental
Club) we played as the original Little Brother Project. Two sets of
all improvised, all instrumental music. There were tons of LBP song
teases and the most common shout out from the rowdy crowd was
"muscle". We pushed the rock envelope on this show and it was a treat
for us to change up our intentions and stretch our musical "muscles"
if you will. Great time for us.
This weekend we play a benefit for NORML. Great music at LCC. LBP
plays early (7:35pm-8:35pm-exact times) PLUMP follows us and then
Moses Guest (one of my top five bands ever). So COME EARLY and stay
late. LBP, PLUMP, and MG have never shared a stage so come out to
support us and the cause.

We have a special show this Wednesday (4/5). LBP all night at The
Continental Club!
This will be a very different LBP show. One that you may have never
seen before as we have not performed in this manner in quite some
time. It's a seldom used approach to our music that we love the
opportunity to showcase. This will not be a standard LBP show. I will
explain….sort of.
Well, I was going to explain it all in full detail but Tyson told me I
should not spill the beans and just tell everyone it is going to be a
"special" show. We are literally going to be playing it with an
unusual focus in mind. What's so special? You will have to make it out
to see. Trust me, it's going to be different.

LBP fan Randy Rucker knows how to make a night on the town count.
Last week I had the pleasure of dining at Randy's restaurant "laidback
manor". (706 Main St. Houston, TX. http://www.laidbackmanor.net/) It
was Lindsey's birthday and I wanted to treat her to something new.
With the help of her sister we rustled up some of her friends and put
together a surprise dinner. We were all surprised.
Rucker's approach to dining is extraordinary. We enjoyed eleven
courses, with a perfect wine pairing and full commentary by his
knowledgeable staff. Each course had the details and ingredients
explained as to not miss his culinary vision. We were greeted at the
door with champagne and the menu was designed by the chef himself. He
even personalized each one with a very sweet "Happy Birthday Lindsey".
If you enjoy fine dining with a relaxed attitude you wont want to miss
out on one of Houston's most original establishments. This is one
place you will never forget.

I used to be the one who always sent out the Little Brother Project
and Bro Sure emails. I would write them, put in stupid jokes and maybe
a little trivia for free tickets/door admission. I would make fun of
band members, tell inside jokes from shows and the whole lot.
Sometimes I would put personal observations into my emails or random
thoughts and things going on in my life. The band squashed them for
the last six months or so because they considered them to be corny,
nonsense or whatever. So I was shushed. Well this week we have our
first gig in Bryan, Texas at a great place called Revolution Cafe and
Bar. (info below). We are even bringing our own sound guy and PA with
us. (Alan w/Tie Dyed Productions. Those of you familiar with LCC know
his work)
I have sent two emails to each Tyson and Coy to remind them to write
one for this week with no response.....YES!!!! I will take it as a
personal invitation to write my best band email yet. This is going to
be the greatest one ever. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be
amazed at how much I have gone through in the past year. It will tell
you about the trials and tribulations that this band goes through.
You will see how difficult it is to continue to "hone your craft. I
mean, you cant just manufacture inspirado." - jb
Just thinking of how you will remember this one of a kind email
fascinates me. Its a rebirth of sorts. Much in the way the LBP has
been reborn time and time again. So now, onto the email. But first,
here is our gig information for Saturday, March 25 2006.

will go down in the books as the greatest LBP email
ever........um....well....you see....the thing is......
I got my hair cut yesterday....OK, The band was right.
