APRIL 2003 (Austin, Texas) - Anni Clark and Beth Williams are the featured
performers at this month's Live Oak Coffeehouse, in a benefit for CASA of
Travis County. The performance is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at the
Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church in Northwest Austin.
Admission is $10 or a season pass at the door. Gourmet coffee and pastries
will be served, and are included in the price of admission.
As always, the concert will be smoke-free and alcohol-free, putting the
emphasis on the music and the musicians. Three-quarters of the gate goes to
the performers, and one-quarter to the selected charity. Since the
coffeehouse is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization, all of the money
from admissions paid at the door and season passes goes to the performers and
the charity.
Each month in Travis County 1,100 children are in the court system due to
abuse and neglect. CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates,
provides a strong voice for 650 of those children. Without your help to fund
recruiting, training and supervision of volunteer advocates, the other 450
children will have to wait. For more details, call 459-2272 or see CASA of
Travis County's Web site at www.casatravis.org.
Yarmouth, Maine native Anni Clark recently celebrated her 21st anniversary of
self-employment in the music industry. With thousands of gigs, a million
miles, and five solo albums under her belt, her passion for communication
through music continues to build a widespread and loyal audience for her
folksy, bluesy, and sometimes witty recordings and performances. October 2002
marked the official release of "Big Water," her fifth and strongest recording
to date. The new CD is a melodic, metaphorical journey...equal parts
turbulent, rollicking, and contemplative, with an overall feel that is
colorful and uplifting.
Beth Williams is a Texas Hill Country artist who owns her own record company.
Lloyd Maines, one of the most sought-after producers in Texas and co-producer
of Beth's latest CD, "In This Old House," says, "Besides the obvious, great
singer and guitar player, Beth Williams bares her soul in her songs and
performance. This is a brave and good thing." In the rising tide of Texas
music, Beth Williams rides the wave high with her beautiful voice,
accompanied by intriguing guitar, cutting her own unique path, following her
call to music on this journey of song.
The Live Oak Coffeehouse has one more show remaining in our Spring 2003
season. Next month, we'll host Billy Jonas and Eric Schwartz on May 9.
Doors open at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at the Live Oak Unitarian
Universalist Church, located at 12310 Ranch Road 620 North. For driving
