FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OCTOBER 2003 (Austin, Texas) - The Live Oak Coffeehouse Concert Series this
month presents Cheryl and Andy Winston of Boulder, Colorado, in a musical
performance to benefit the Humane Society of Austin. Local performer Jean
Synodinos, formerly of The Nonchalants, will open the show. The performance is
at 7:30
p.m. on Friday, October 10, at the Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church in
Cedar Park.

Admission is $10 or a season pass at the door. Gourmet coffee and pastries
will be served, and are included in the price of admission.

As always, the concert will be smoke-free and alcohol-free, putting the
emphasis on the music and the musicians. Three-quarters of the gate goes to the
performers, and one-quarter to the selected charity. Since the coffeehouse is an
all-volunteer, non-profit organization, all of the money from admissions paid
at the door and season passes goes to the performers and the charity.

The Humane Society of Austin, the local chapter of the Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), was organized in 1952. Looking for
love?
The SPCA may have someone for you. The Humane Society is open every day, except
Tuesday. For more information, call 837-7985 or see their Web site at
www.austinspca.com.

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Cheryl and Andy Winston met and began
playing music together while attending college. Now hailing from Boulder,
Colorado, "[their] two voices...go down like the smoothest sipping whiskey,
magical,
slightly inebriating, and addictive. A rare and satisfying richness. Lyrics
that tug at the heart and intellect as well as melodic and harmonic ideas that
satisfy like a meal full of delights," wrote Bill Fisher in Victory Review. The
Winstons were named as finalists in the prestigious 2003 New Folk Competition
at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Their most recent CD is "Coming Through."

Austin's lovely and talented Jean Synodinos opens the show. Her voice has
been hailed as "a veritable force of nature." She has won many awards, and was a
finalist at the Wildflower Competition in May 2003. Jean's new CD is "Lucky."

On Friday, October 24, a CD release party will be held at the Live Oak UU
Church for Austin singer-songwriters Todd Hoke and Paul Sanchez, two excellent
artists familiar to coffeehouse regulars. This is not an official Live Oak
Coffeehouse event, but it will be just like one. Admission is $5 and all
proceeds
go to the artists. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Here are the remaining dates in our Fall 2003 season. All shows are scheduled
for 7:30 p.m.
NOVEMBER 14 - David LaMotte of Asheville, North Carolina, and Jenny Reynolds
of Wellesley, Massachusetts.
DECEMBER 5 - Austin Songwriters in the Round, with Michael Austin, Frank
Meyer, and Bill Oliver.

See our Web site for the Spring 2004 concert dates and artists!

Doors open at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 10, at the Live Oak Unitarian
Universalist Church, located at 3315 El Salido Parkway, Cedar Park. For driving
directions, visit the church's Web site at www.liveoakuu.org or call 219-9008.
