JUNE 2004 (Austin, Texas) – The Live Oak Coffeehouse this month presents
acclaimed singer-songwriter, playwright, and author David Roth in a very special
musical concert that will benefit Special Olympics Texas. The performance is at
7 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, at the Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church in
Cedar Park.

Admission is $10. Gourmet coffee and pastries are included in the price of
admission. Please note that season passes will not be accepted at this special
concert.

As always, the concert will be smoke-free and alcohol-free, putting the emphasis
on the music and the musicians.

Special Olympics Texas will be the beneficiary of one-quarter of the gate from
this show. The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports
training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for
persons eight years of age and older with mental retardation, giving them
continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage,
experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship
with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. For
more details, see the organization’s Web site at www.sotx.org.

Since emerging from a nationwide field of several hundred songwriters to open
the 1987 Kerrville Folk Festival as a New Folk Winner, Chicago native (and
two-time national anthem singer for the NBA’s Michael Jordan-era Bulls) David
Roth has garnered accolades for his performances, workshops, writing, and
recordings. In addition to performing at music festivals, concert halls, clubs,
and other venues, David leads singing, songwriting, and performance workshops at
many music camps around the country (he was artist-in-residence for several
years at New York’s Omega Institute, one of the country’s leading adult
education centers). David’s one-man play “The Gripes of Roth” premiered in
1994 at the Nomad Theater in Boulder, Colorado.

Our Fall 2004 season is set! Here’s the schedule.
August 20, 2004: Jon Emery Band. Opener to be announced.
