ONE WEEK FROM TONIGHT -- at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 20, we'll have the Jon
Emery Band in a benefit for the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic
organization's Texas Unit. Cowboy Johnson, an Austin favorite, will open the
show. Jon Emery is the king of hillbilly rock! See what folks in Austin and all
over have been raving about for the past three decades!
You know the drill -- doors open at 7 p.m. at the Live Oak UU Church at 3315 El
Salido Parkway in Cedar Park. See the Web site or call 219-9008 for driving
directions.
Please consider buying a season pass! Forty dollars gets you admission to all
five shows in the Fall 2004 season. That's $8 a show and that saves you $2 per
show. Even if you can't make it to all five shows, it will help support the
coffeehouse in our mission of giving back to the Austin community! We really
need everyone who supports the idea of the Live Oak Coffeehouse Concert Series
to step up and help us pay deserving artists more than they would usually make
at a smoke-filled bar or a Sixth Street club where no one is paying attention to
the band. And we always give 25% of the door to the great charities and service
organizations we support. Not "proceeds" from the show! Absolutely one-quarter
of the paid admissions goes to the beneficiary of the show, because we are a
volunteer organization, and even our hard-working volunteers pay to attend the
shows.

In the meantime, go out and cheer for Lance tonight, or watch the Olympics'
opening ceremony. But be at the coffeehouse next Friday night! And buy a season
pass!
See you there!
