NOVEMBER 2004 (Austin, Texas) – The Live Oak Coffeehouse this month presents
nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Johnsmith in a musical performance
benefiting the Texas chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America,
which will be held on Friday, November 12, at 7:30 p.m. Kristin de Witt will
open the show.

Admission is $10 or a season pass at the door. Gourmet coffee and pastries are
included in the price of admission.

As always, the concert will be smoke-free and alcohol-free, putting the emphasis
on the music and the musicians. Three-quarters of the gate goes to the
performers, and one-quarter to the selected charity. Since the coffeehouse is an
all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization, all of the money from admissions
paid at the door and season passes goes to the performers and the charity.

Huntington's Disease is an inherited, progressively degenerative brain disorder
that results in a loss of both mental and physical control. Symptoms usually
appear between 30-50 years of age and progress over a 10- to 25-year period,
ending in death. The promise of a treatment and an ultimate cure for
Huntington's Disease (HD) grows ever closer. The Huntington’s Disease Society
of America helps fund research into HD and provides services to families dealing
with the disease. For more information, visit the Texas chapter’s Web site at
www.hdsatexas.org.

Johnsmith is one performer who doesn't wear hype well. His artistry speaks for
itself. In fact, the idea of “just being real” is a prominent theme
throughout his music. And yet, to simply say that Johnsmith is a great
singer/songwriter would not be enough. In addition to his incomparable musical
abilities and finely tuned songwriting skills, Johnsmith possesses the even
rarer gift of being able to share his soul. That gift is the foundation on which
everything else about him is built, and it comes shining through in every song
he sings. This is especially true of the selections on his new CD, “Kickin'
This Stone.”

Kristin de Witt is one of Austin's most popular back-up singers, who now has her
very own solo CD to showcase her beautiful voice. She has sung with many of
Austin's most popular artists, including Sara Hickman and Annie Wenz.

Doors open at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 12, at the Live Oak Unitarian
Universalist Church, located at 3315 El Salido Parkway, Cedar Park. For driving
directions, visit the church’s Web site at www.liveoakuu.org or call 219-9008.
