APRIL 2001 (Austin, Texas) - The critically acclaimed duo of Dave Carter and
Tracy Grammer will headline this month's Live Oak Coffeehouse, in a benefit
for Animal Trustees of Austin. Paul Sanchez will open the show. The concert
will be held on Friday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Live Oak Unitarian
Universalist Church in Northwest Austin. Admission is $8 at the door.

As always, the concert will be smoke-free and alcohol-free, putting the
emphasis on the music and the musicians. Gourmet coffee and pastries will be
served, and are included in the price of admission. Three-quarters of the
gate goes to the performers, and one-quarter to the selected charity. Since
the coffeehouse is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, all of the
money from admissions and season passes goes to the performers and the
charity.

Animal Trustees of Austin was founded by concerned citizens desiring to help
lost, abused and abandoned animals in Austin and Travis County. Being a
volunteer organization, ATA is made up of members from all walks of life that
contribute widely varied skills, but are united by one common interest -- the
welfare of the animals. ATA's activities include educating the public about
responsible and compassionate pet ownership, promoting quality care for dogs
and cats at the Town Lake Animal Center and leading by example in the care of
our personal and foster pets. More information is available at
www.animaltrustees.org.

Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer are without doubt one of the most highly
regarded duos on the current folk circuit. Hu Blumenfeld, from
Folkmusic.About Online, is only one of many reviewers who have proclaimed
their latest album, Tanglewood Tree, "a masterpiece." He wrote: Dave Carter's
"songwriting is...virtually flawless, from the opening song 'Happytown,'
which welcomes you to their mythic wild, wild west America, to the haunting
guitar and vocal melodies of 'Farewell to Bitterroot Valley.' The title track
is an instant classic...I can't recommend this album enough." Praise for
their live performances is equally glowing. The late Al Grierson wrote, "When
I heard Dave Carter at a [Kerrville] campfire, every hair on my body stood up
and tingled. Dave is one of a handful of true poets plying the songwriting
trade. I'd recommend him and Tracy without reservation."

The Associated Press calls their Tanglewood Tree album "Simply brilliant; a
skyrocket of an album that should establish this Oregon duo as stars." Dirty
Linen magazine says, "Hands down, Dave Carter is the most brilliant
songwriter around today." Their independently produced debut CD, When I Go,
was pronounced "one of the best albums of the year" by the Los Angeles Times
and finished #2 in the national Folk DJ polls. Tanglewood Tree is receiving
heavy airplay across three major radio formats and topped many "Best of 2000"
lists -- a major accomplishment for a self-produced national debut and a
great honor for these Portland, Oregon troubadours. Their Web site is at
www.daveandtracy.com.

Armed with words and music, Paul Edward Sanchez has been fighting the good
fight with his songs for more than 20 years. His songs have taken him to
places like Nashville's Bluebird Café, Colorado's Telluride Bluegrass
Festival and Texas' Kerrville Folk Festival. Sanchez has released three
albums and has won songwriting competitions at the Napa Valley Folk Festival
and the Columbia River Folk Festival; he was also a finalist at the Telluride
Bluegrass Festival. Sanchez has opened for such musicians as Lucinda Williams
and Ricky Skaggs, and his songs have been performed and recorded by numerous
folk artists. Paul, who has played at the Live Oak Coffeehouse once before,
has his Web site at www.soundsofaustin.com/conspiracy/sanchez.html.

The Spring 2001 season of the Live Oak Coffeehouse concludes next month. The
next show will be on Friday, May 4, 2001, and features Buddy Mondlock and
Carol Elliott.

Doors open at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20, at the Live Oak Unitarian
Universalist Church, located at 12310 Ranch Road 620 North. For driving
directions, visit the church's Web site at www.liveoakuu.org or call 219-9008.
