L.O.M.M.A. (Legacy Of Mountain Music Association) was organized in early 2004 to celebrate the tradition of Mountain Music. The Music that has been an important part of the culture for over 250 years in the hills of Appalchia is Getting recognized. Galax Virginia is the home of L.O.M.M.A. Galax is the World Capitol of Old Time Mountain Music. Galax was also home to one of the first and most enduring families to country music, Ernest "Pop" Stoneman and the Stoneman Family. Pop was istrumental in Ralph Peer's recording the historic "Bristol Sessions". Just around the corner in Fries Virginia Henry Whitter was another pioneer recording legend. These two legends will be honored at our first ceremony June 13th in Galax Va. Every person who has ever picked up an instrument has been an important part of the history we hope to honor several Mountain Music legends for years to come.
