I'm suffering from small handitis! I bought a Yamaha Tenor recently
thinking my fingers would stretch with time and practice and I'd be able to
make all the notes. In reality, it's quite painful (and so's the noise I
make on what would otherwise be a lovely sounding instrument) and by the
time I've stretched my fingers to make the lower i.e. right hand notes, the
music's moved one. OK if it's minims you're playing but forget it if it's
quavers.

I've enquired with the Early Music Centre as to whether there's a better
shaped tenor for small hands but basically the answer is at present no and
the Yamaha is the smallest-friendly around.

Does anyone possess/know of a different sized tenor? Would anyone like to
buy a fairly new and properly washed Yamaha from me at a reduced price?

Thanks

Carole, Roessler makes a knick system (bent over) tenor which I believe is easier for small hands. Try this link. They claim its easier for small hands. The...

Mark/Carole It certainly is much easier for smaller hands. A friend of mine has one and she swears by it. Of course, it is rather more expensive than the...
