I think you're right - it was a virus attachment.

I had a virus a week ago Netsky.C which my virus checker picked up and
disinfected my whole system. I've also run Norton checker since and all is
clean. i'm sorry if this originated from me but it appears no-one has been
infected.

I've downloaded the latest Norton checker, scanned my computer and its come
up clean. The messages say that a part of the message was eliminated so it
was
presumably a virus attachment.
It looks like everyone on londonrecorders is getting these messages. Not
sure
what that means though!
BTW I've had no similar messages from other yahoogroups
