This sounds like a really good idea. Unfortunately, I shall be rehearsing
that day, but I hope it goes well.

Next weekend [1st. - 3rd. July], a series of recorder concerts and classes
will be held at The Landmark Arts Centre, Ferry Road, Teddington [near the
lock], which can easily be reached either by trains from Teddington or
Hampton Wick, or buses from Kingston and Richmond.
Friday night's concert [7 - 8pm.] is for Junior ensembles and players -
playing music with a maritime theme, with two or threesea shanties rehearsed
and performed that night!
Saturday evening's concert [at 7.30] - entitled 'In Praise of Folly' -
includes music the 15th., 16th. and early 17th. centuries.
This will be preceded by two opportunities to play: 'Recorder Returners'
[10.30 - 12] is designed for adults who used to play the recorder or who are
learning alongside their children. From 2 - 5, younger players will have the
opportunity to gain some friendly advice and comments upon any piece they
wish to play.
Sunday's concert runs from 5 to 6 and is entitled 'The Big Baboon'! This
will include a modern piece of that name, together with other recently
composed pieces in jazz and pastoral styles. The Landmark Centre will then
start to change from resembling Noah's Ark to St Mark's, Venice with a
participatory performance of Vivaldi's 'Tempesta di Mare' arranged for
recorders as well as Alan Davis' 'Party Pieces'.
From 2 - 4.30 there will be opportunities to rehearse 'Tempesta di Mare',
and also to learn some of the fascinating chords, whistles and noises
included in 'Party Pieces'..
Each concert or class will cost £6 individually, and a whole day will cost
£10. Attendance at the whole weekend will cost £22.
Enquiries to Zephyrus at 10 Viking Court, Beaver Close, HAMPTON, Middlesex

All welcome!
