I think we have a new Air Supply fan. My husband.
He and I went to the concert in McAllen(the first
time I'd ever seen R & G in concert after 19 years of
trying). My husband was great about it. He turned it into
a second honeymoon and took pictures like mad.
Anyway, I keep Air Supply CD's and cassettes in my car
all the time. When he drives my car, he always turns
on the radio to an oldies station. Last night, he
didn't. I didn't say anything and, after awhile, he said,
"Y'know, they really do sound the same live as they do on
their records. I mean, they can really sing."<br>Fellow
fans, this is high praise from a man whose 2 favorite
CD's are "ROGER MILLER'S GREATEST HITS" and "THE BEST
OF THE DRIFTERS".<br>We were on our way to eat
dinner out and he continued to talk about the concert.
Of course, that's my favorite topic. Finally, he
asked me if I knew how about old Graham and Russell
are. I told him that I know the exact day each was
born, that Graham is 50 and Russell 51. He didn't
believe me. According my husband(his name is Louis. I'm
tired of writing 'my husband' so much).<br>According to
Louis, Russell obviously has prematurely gray hair and
Graham absolutely cannot be a day over 35 years old.
He's very sure of this because he got quite close to
both of them. At the after-party, I came back from
having Mark sign his drumstick that Russell rolled to me
during the concert, to find Louis and Graham talking to
each other while Graham signed whatever was shoved
under his nose. They were talking about New Orleans
which is where Louis was born. So, here was this line
of poor women trying to talk to Graham when he and
Louis were talking about Mardi Gras. I wedged myself
between them, hoping for a Graham hug which I got. Then I
quietly told Louis that he should let Graham get back to
the line before he(Louis) was stoned to death.<br>I
finally convinced Louis that Russell & Graham were 51 &
50 by showing him proof of their 25th anniversary
together. If Graham is 35, that would mean that Air Supply
started when he was 10 years old. <br>The point of all of
this is that A HUSBAND WENT TO AN AIR SUPPLY CONCERT
AND CAME OUT OF IT A FAN!<br>He told me that he'd
expected the concert to be "low-key and soothing". Those
were Louis' exact words. Between the band and the
audience, we almost blew the roof off!<br>Again, thanks to
all of you who emailed me with tips on how to get to
meet R & G, and to tell me to really go for it and
enjoy myself. Well, I did and it was perfect! PERFECT!
