"The four songs on this EP are completely crushing, like 10 Curve records being played at once (nothing I'd ever argue against, by the way)--all traveling precariously under black ice and a carapace of frozen love."

It's not a bad simile -- some of those Jesu songs *do* remind me of Curve. Really good stuff. HOWEVER, you can only compare the instrumental aspect of it to Curve, since there is a lack of sultry female vocals in Jesu.
For some reason, this issue of the Other Music update also contains a number of other releases with swirly fuzzy churning guitars including a reissue of Chapterhouse's "Whirlpool."

This is the title track from the acid android mini
album, Faults, which came out back in March of 2003.
acid android is the side project of Yukihiro Awaji,
the drummer of the famous Japanese rock band, L'arc en
Ciel. Being a minor Japanese music geek and huge
Curve fan, I did post about this on this list back
when it was coming out. ^_^
Haven't heard L'arc en Ciel, though. Any similarities to Curve in that band?
