NEW RELEASES
Coti | "Onda"
Gunter Muller & Federico Barabino | "Merging Layers"
Mike Khoury & Ryan Jewell | "Squall Line Bow Echo"
Three new releases on Triple Bath from the fields of contemporary/modern composition, electroacoustic drone and free improvisation, respectively, featuring Greece˘s most important figure in electronic music for the last two decades, Coti (Coti K.), the Swiss veteran percussionist of improvised music Gunter
Muller, the prolific Argentinian guitarist/improviser Federico Barabino, the cut-up violinist/improviser from Michigan, Mike Khoury and his fellow percussion-extremist/improviser Ryan Jewell from Ohio. It a great honour for Triple Bath to collaborate with these artists.

Coti | "Onda" | TRB.023 | February 2010

"Onda", based solely on electric contrabass,
is Coti K.'s new work. New in sonic direction and conception, since this is the
first time the Greek musician has crafted an organic recording without electronic
treatments. Written and recorded in isolation on the island of Tinos, the procedure
was simple... layers of the aforementioned stringed instrument creating, either
harmonic or textural constructions. The result... a complicated rush of calm
yet mysterious bowings that produce warm, round passages of tones and overtones,
delicately delivering 7 stories of 4 to 10 minutes long each. Onda means wave
in Italian and as such, it draws the essence of this album. This release coincides
in time with the artist's new installation called "Suono", held in Athens from
February 25 to March 29. More info on "Suono" here : http://cheapart.gr/en/ektheseis/10/10_suono.htm.

Gunter Muller & Federico Barabino | "Merging Layers" | TRB.022 | December 2009

Despite the fact that (Argentinian) Federico Barabino and (Swiss)
Gunter Muller never met, they made this album. Federico recorded some improvisations
for electric guitar and sent them to Gunter for conducting a collaboration in
distance. Gunter recorded some improvisations for ipods and electronics to be
used for mixing with Federico's tracks. Shifting, editing and mixing the material
brought him to the final compositions.

Mike Khoury & Ryan Jewell | "Squall Line Bow Echo" | TRB.021 | December 2009

The duet of Mike Khoury (from Michigan) and Ryan Jewell (from
Ohio), instrumentally interpreted as violin and percussion, recorded five pieces
of cut-up improvisation/dialogues in 2007. The reverberating plates, the cymbal
drones and the un-patterned percussive hits in accordance with the squeaking,
meowing and the self-drunk violin strings result in highly sonant metallic intermodular
discords and all that, a matter of "unrehearsed spontaneity".
