So it essentially works on a different computer, so I think my problem
is in my integrated components. Anyway, I now get an indecipherable
message that mentions the smart card and gives the option of 'retry'
or 'cancel.' It won't write, but it will read. Is this just a port
configuration issue?
Once I get a parallel PCI card for my own computer, I'm sure I'll be
able to remedy any other problems.

But the connections on my computer (both LPT and COM) are all things like 3f8 and 278F. I mean, none of the numbers end in an H, they all end in other letters like Fs.
These numbers need to be the same on the tranfer and the computer for the connection to work, right?
Is it possible to change the numbers of the pc connection to match the tranfer connection?

Your LPT should not be 3f8, it should be 378 or 278. 3f8 and
2f8 are usually COM ports.
The H means “hexadecimal” which is a number system which I won’t
explkain, but its what computers use. Let’s leave it that. But it means that
numbers will be from 0-9 and then a-f (for 16 total numbers, 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
9 a b c d e f) that’s why you’ll see Fs in addresses. But not in LPT
addresses.. usually.
The H is just telling you that this number is hex though, which should
be implied..

menu, or setup menu, and it basically gives you options that look like
LPT1 (3f8)
LPT2 (2f8)
Or whatever the actual numbers are in
the program. The program will have those options, but the addresses are
probably slightly different than I’m remembering.
If your LPT address is 3f8 (or
whatever), nomatter what its called by windows (LPT1, lPT2, etc..) you pick the
option with the matching address.
Windows can call your LPT port by any
LPT name, LPT1, LPT2, etc.. its changeable.. but the ADDRESS is
permanent. (in xp at least). So pick the option with the
address that corresponds to your LPT port …

You misunderstood.
Read what your lpt1 port address
is. That’s the address you use. It doesn’t have to be 3f8, iwas
just guessing from memory, but I guess that’s a com port address. It will
be SOMETHING, and that something is what you make sure your program is set to.

You misunderstood.
Read what your lpt1 port address is. That’s the address you use. It doesn’t have to be 3f8, iwas just guessing from memory, but I guess that’s a com port address. It will be SOMETHING, and that something is what you make sure your program is set to.

alright, my 3f8 something is under the COM1 port, but the transfer is running through the LPT1 port. I can only get the tranfer to run through an LPT port. How would I move the 3f8 over to the LPT1?

Look under ports
Your LPT port should be there
Double click, go through the tabs until you see the address listed (resource tab)
Should be something like 3f8…
When you identify the address, make sure that is the address set in the transfer program. HKEMS has not written the program to go via windows assigned LPT numbers, but instead, to directly access the address (a shame, since in winXP you lose the ability to change those resources)

I've been having some troubles lately, fighting with song corruption on the cart
as well as
it not being properly read by the GB Transferer.
I've used this cart for a number of months, with no real troubles (wears the
battery down
REAL quick on my SP..), as well as my transferer with no troubles. The other day
I put the
cart in to do a backup, but for some reason or another the transferer was
reading it as a
"regular GB cart," instead of a 32M Smart Card... thus not allowing me to
attempt to
reformat or upload SAV files...
I seemed to be able to download a .sav file and open it up in LSDJ manager.. but
for some
reason there were random characters on (all?) 32 or so lines of the sav file in
the manager
(I only had 4-5 songs on there)
Is this a card issue? It seems so.. but for that matter do these carts have a
tendency to just
simply go bad after several months with little to moderate use?
If it is an issue with the transferer, is there any reason to suggest that
LameBoy's mod on
his site could possibly resolve this?
