I've started a new discussion group for refugees from Yahoo groups on
Luciano Pavarotti which, like this one, have been abandoned by their
owners, and turned into dumping grounds for every spammer on the
internet... an insult to one of the greatest singers of the 20th
century, and to the legitimate members of those groups. You'll find

The group will be carefully moderated. All members can post, but
messages from new members will be moderated to eliminate spam. Once
you have posted your first message, you will be taken off moderation.
The members' list is available to group members, but you may choose
not to reveal your email address to the moderators or anyone else.

The group is a bit of an experiment. If after a few months, it fails
to attract active members, I'll probably delete it. But I thought it
might be worth a try.
