I don't think it's all of 45 degrees. i'm not an expert but as i recall it's more like 35 degrees.. allthough the common router bit is no doubt 45 degrees....

no. actually single head toms are plentyfull.. if the shell has bearing edge for the bottom then drill em out for bottom hardware. won't increase the value...
