Madonna and U2's Bono were just two of the famous faces in Toronto over the
weekend during the 30th Toronto International Film Festival. As for the films,
the cowboy love story 'Brokeback Mountain' received early raves.

TORONTO - You know you've got a good party on your hands when Madonna shows up.

The singer, her left arm still in a sling from last month's horseback riding
accident, made a surprise appearance at the 30th Toronto International Film
Festival Sunday night, sending the already sleepdeprived paparazzi into a frenzy
as she walked the red carpet at Roy Thompson Hall for the North American
premiere of her director-husband Guy Ritchie's Revolver.

Earlier that night, U2 frontman Bono, in town for a week of concerts, took the
stage at the Isabel Bader Theatre, where the documentary Leonard Cohen: I'm Your
Man was making its world premiere, to pay tribute to the singer. ''I would not
know how high to jump or how far I was falling without Leonard Cohen,'' Bono
said to the audience.

Madonna and Bono were just the latest in a seemingly endless parade of famous
faces that invaded the city throughout the weekend. This festival, which runs
through Saturday, is as much about moviegoing as it is about stargazing, and
crowds hung out en masse outside festival venues and the Four Seasons Hotel just
to catch a glimpse of the likes of Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst,
Susan Sarandon, Richard Gere, Liam Neeson, Jeff Bridges, Tommy Lee Jones,
Charlize Theron, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Hopkins or tiny Dakota Fanning, all
of whom were flitting about town to promote their latest films.

4. Guy Ritchie wants to challenge audience with latest film Revolver

TORONTO (CP) - It was a night for Guy Ritchie, but quite a lot of attention was
paid to his wife.

Madonna accompanied her husband down the red carpet for the world premiere of
Ritchie's film, Revolver on Sunday night at the Toronto International Film
Festival.

Asked if she'd seen the film yet, Madonna replied, "Hell, yeah."

The petite singer called it "definitely" Ritchie's best film yet.

"It's just more sophisticated," she said.

Madonna clearly didn't want to draw attention away from Revolver. She hid coyly
behind her husband while he answered questions from the press, making it
difficult to see her from the shoulders down.

Earlier in the day, Ritchie was willing to answer a question about Madonna's
condition after a recent horseback riding fall.

"The wife's very good, thanks," he said with a proud smile. "Eight broken bones
and she's come with me."

Madonna did let slip that she has a new album to look forward to, called
Confessions on a Dance Floor, with the first single called Hung Up.

But she refused to drop any hints about the album's sound.

"You figure it out," she said.

As for Revolver, the plot thickens from the word go. Ritchie and his stars
discussed the movie's many layers at a news conference held before the evening
screening.

Revolver is a gangster drama that is often violent, often dark and sometimes
very funny.

The film twists and turns while delving into the psyche of the lead character,
Jake Green - played by Jason Statham - a criminal who may hold the keys to the
perfect con and defeating any opponent.

Ritchie said the film - which includes continuous internal dialogues narrating a
la Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - may be a challenge to theatre-goers.

"I think the audience is ready for that," he said.

"It's integral to the confidence trick that you have the illusion of things
looking rather complicated," Ritchie said of the film's theme as well as its
structure. "But they're actually rather simple."

Still, Ritchie said the film won't appeal to the lowest-common-denominator
moviegoer.

"I think I just got all too fed up with films that didn't make you think," said
Ritchie. "I liked the idea of one that you'd have to be dancing around with. I
like my mind to be engaged when I watch a film."

Ray Liotta plays an over-tanned smooth operator concealing a bundle of
insecurities. His first reaction to the script appears to be what Ritchie was
striving toward.

"What the hell was this script about?" said Liotta of his initial thoughts.

"At its core, you could see bad guys going against bad guys. . . . It's very,
very dense, very complicated, very smart, which is something you're not used to
getting in most movies."

Liotta said working with Ritchie was a liberating experience.

"This was one of the better experiences that I've had in making movies," said
Liotta.

"It was great to just trust Guy and get on a building and just fall because you
know you're going to be caught."

Vincent Pastore of Sopranos fame plays an enigmatic con man.

He's the counterpoint to Andre Benjamin - better known as Andre 3000 of the
music duo OutKast - who plays a polished loan shark.

Pastore said he liked the depth of the script.

"To me, it was one of the best scripts I'd read in a long time," he said.

"Coming off The Sopranos, working with David Chase where he kept writing great
stuff, it was really great to pick up Revolver."

Revolver is expected in North American theatres in early 2006.

5. Glittering Line-Up of Music Stars in New Motorola ROKR Advertising Campaign
==============================================================================

Press Release Source: Motorola, Inc.

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Sept. 8 -- Motorola, Inc. together with world-renowned music
heavyweights is launching a new advertising campaign introducing the Motorola
ROKR -- the world's first mobile phone with iTunes -- enabling music lovers to
transfer up to 100 of their favorite songs from the iTunes jukebox on their Mac
or PC to their mobile phone.

The campaign brings together a host of past and present music legends including
Madonna, Little Richard, The Bravery, Iggy Pop, Biggie Smalls, Ahmir, Common and
Beethoven, in a screen-first, directed by a new breed of Hollywood filmmaker,
Jesse Dylan.

The month-long 'Phone Booth' campaign devised by BBDO New York, supports the
launch of the ROKR and debuts in the U.S. on September 8th and will roll out
across Hong Kong and select markets in Europe over the following weeks.

Geoffrey Frost, chief marketing officer of Motorola says, "Just as MOTOROKR is
the first great fusion of music and phone, 'Phone booth' is the perfect fusion
of genres and generations -- a great metaphor for how we all express ourselves
through the music we love. It's a nice way to show how "the device formerly
known as the cellphone" continues to evolve."

Set to the soundtrack of Madonna's 'Hung Up' -- due to be the first single
release from her forthcoming album -- the broadcast campaign combines computer
wizardry with location shoots in New York and London. The TV spot is scheduled
to appear on multiple MTV Network stations such as MTV, VH1, MTV2 and Comedy
Central along with ABC's NFL Season Opener -- New England vs. Oakland. It will
also be seen during several primetime premieres including The Apprentice, The
Simpsons, and Lost.

The inspiration for the ad came from the phone booth packing craze of 1959 and
creatively demonstrates how consumers can now enjoy the iTunes experience on
their mobile phone.

The publicity machine for Madonna's upcoming Confessions On a Dancefloor has
begun even though "Hung Up," the first single, is not due for release until mid
October. If you want a teaser of the new music, catch her on Motorola's
commercials for their new iTunes-enabled cell phone.

Also, Madonna's recorded catalogue is now available on iTunes for the first
time. This isn't the first digital availability of her work as nearly her entire
catalogue has long been available on Rhapsody. Check out a commercial for the
iTunes deal on the opening page of Madonna's Official Site.

I'm hanging up on you,
