pix shown today on "El Gordo & La Flaca". I haven't
been very happy with the way this show has treated
"our couple" lately, but they had some nice stuff
today! For those who don't read Spanish, the quickie
translation is that Mariah and Luis are very much together,
that Mariah is very happy with Luis (she calls him
"the man of her life") and according to one of MC's
close friends quoted on the show, Mariah has been
searching for years for a man with Luis's qualities:
romantic, affectionate, intelligent, attentive, good
looking, and fun-loving. This same friend says that she's
known MC for years and has never seen her happier.

I do agree that Mariah and Luis have the talent
to write, produce, and sing a beautiful duet in
either or both languages if they decide to do that.<br>I
also think that Luis Miguel sounded great on the Duets
II CD where he sang "Come fly with me" with Frank
Sinatra in English. He is perfectly capable of speaking
and singing well in English.<br>I just don't know if
he wants to do a crossover. This is hitting on a
very touchy subject since many many of his fans never
want to see him do this.

Yes, MC recorded a few Spanish songs(a Spanish
version of her hit English songs) like Hero, Open Arms,
and My All. They all sounded beautiful whether she
sang them in Spanish or English esp. Hero. I thought
she did great in singing it in Spanish!!!<br>Also,
her love Luis sounded great when he sang Someday, an
English version of the same Spanish title song he sang of
the Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame" sdtk. I think
Mariah and Luis will sing great whether they sing a
Spanish or English duet. They both have tremendous
talents. It would be wonderful if they write, produce, and
sing a duet together since they are multi-talented
superstar couple. Wouldn't all of you agree? Can't wait to
hear the two of them sing a beautiful duet!!!!

I think that Mariah could have more big hits on latin charts with several of her
more beautiful English songs done in Spanish.  Hasnt she done this sometime
before also?

To each his own...Luis Miguel and Mariah don't
need to crossover to the other language unless they
really feel as if singing in that language is the best
way to express the message of a very special song.
Neither will do a perfect pronunciation job in their
second language so the song had better be SO special
that the melody and content of the lyrics will sweep
the listener past these minor imperfections. If they
feel strongly about the song then their interpretation
will pull them through it too. For example, Cristina
Aguilera recently did a real R&B version of the classic
bolero, "Contigo En La Distancia" for her new Spanish CD,
and on the Latin Grammys show. Her sincere emotion
and musicianship carried her over any glitches in her
limited Spanish. Her interpretation was VERY similar to
that of Luis Miguel's on his Romance CD. I couldn't
help but wonder if she had listened a few times to LM
in order to get the best 'read' on how to sell this
song.<br><br>Anyway, in the past, LM has sung the Beatles' classic,
"Yesterday" and an English cover of his song, "Suena" from
the Spanish version of Disney's Hunchback of Notre
Dame" soundtrack which was entitled, "Someday". US fans
have spent countless hours on messageboards arguing
about the pros & cons of his abilities to sing well in
English based on these few examples over his 20-year
career. Luis Miguel has also stated emphatically many
times that he has no interest in singing in English
unless the song or occasion demands it. Don't look for
this superstar to do any Ricky Martin-style crossover
anytime soon.<br><br>As for Mariah, I'm sure she's
tempted to sing something in Spanish. It is a marvelous
language for singers because it is so vowel-oriented and
everyone sounds their best in 'romance' languages such as
Italian or Spanish. I'd advise her to go for it if she
falls in love with some melody or set of lyrics. She
needs to expand her repertoire more than Luis Miguel
does!

I have watched the DVD of VIVO and seen a girl
who looks a great deal like Mariah in the audience.
They show her face a whole bunch of times during the
concert. I honestly don't know if it is her or not. If any
of the MC fans would be willing to find the DVD or
video and watch it, I would love to know if you think
it is Mariah?

I now understand that Mariah is on the new Luis
Miguel concert video and DVD, "VIVO". She is shown
sitting in the audience especially during Luis Miguel's
singing of the richly romantic ballad, "La Inconditional"
which happens to translate out as 'the one with
unconditional love or wholeheartedness'. How nice, huh?

Hi all-  Im a huge Luismi fan.  Like rainbow1 said about Mariah, I mainly want
El Rey (the king) to be happy in life.  So, as long as he loves Mariah, so do I.

Luis Miguel has been my favorite singer, Latin or
otherwise, for the past twelve years. I was probably among
the first of his nonHispanic, US fans. LM is a total
class act on stage. He is a tremendous talent and
musician. His personal life has always been heavily guarded
and was of little interest to a fan such as myself
who concentrated on the product he produces rather
than his offstage personality or love life. However, I
am grateful to Mariah Carey for her candid
interviews about their relationship. She has confirmed over
the past two years what only I suspected--Luis Miguel
is a class act as an indivdual too. It is also fun
to hear Mariah describe LM in interviews with the
American press who have NO CLUE how tremendously famous
and talented her new 'guy' is; they tend to think
she's dating some obscure Latino like the one Madonna
hooked up with for her first pregnancy. Nothing could be
farther from the truth. These two singers are equal in
their high-powered careers. Check out the new video or
DVD version of Luis Miguel's recent concert tour
entitled, "VIVO!". You Mariah fans can rest assured that
this guy is NOT with her to bask in reflected fame or
sponge off her wealth. You Luis fans can rest assured
that Mariah is enough of a talent herself that she
will not interfere or resent the demands of Luis
Miguel's work. That USA interview posted in another
message here confirms part of their mutual attraction;
when they are with each other, they are equals and out
of the personal spotlight of fame. Watch the Academy
Awards this March 2001. Since Mariah is working on her
movie career, she will no doubt receive an invitation
from the Oscars to attend the ceremony. Luis Miguel
has attended this event in the past as an escort for
Daisy Fuentes and Salma Hayek (spelled correctly?) so,
anyway, there's a great chance LM could escort Mariah to
this affair. It's right up his alley--100%
