Jones Radio Network, which syndicates the "Marie and Friends" show, has canceled it. However, reruns of Osmond's show are still airing on KBEE (FM-98.7) each weekday from 2-7 p.m. "As for Marie, Jones Radio Network has decided to stop producing the nationally syndicated 'Marie & Friends,' " Rusty Keys, KBEE program director, told the Deseret Morning News in an e-mail. "KBEE is in current negotiations with Marie's management and working to retain her services." The official Osmond family Web site (www.osmond.com) states, "We are sorry to report that Marie's show was canceled." Osmond's program of adult contemporary music and conversation geared toward women used KBEE of Salt Lake as its flagship station. Osmond did the show from a Provo office building. "Marie and Friends" started with two other stations, KISY in Twin Falls, Idaho, and KSYV in Santa Maria, Calif., on Feb. 1, 2004, and had grown to a syndicate of at least 10 affiliate stations by last summer. For the Salt Lake market last summer, Osmond's show was ranked first in the afternoon among female listeners ages 25-54, according to Arbitron's estimates. Radio was one of the few mediums where Osmond, a versatile entertainer, hadn't worked before. Much of the show was taped so that Osmond, 45, could maintain her family life.
