You're welcome, Viki. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Jean

p.s. I went to your MySpace page and listened to "Brass Rings." Very nice!
Please let me know if you're performing in the Boston area. (Or for that matter
in Nashua, since I visit old friends there rather frequently.)

Am I the only one who was too impatient to wait for the physical CDs? I
downloaded the album (legally) yesterday and have been listening with delight.
(The one issue with the download is that songs seem to be mis-labelled- -most of
them show up on iTunes as by Rachael McShane, even when the voice is clearly
Mark Erelli's or Jez Lowe's or whoever, and of course there's no booklet. Info
is sketchy on the website, too, but I've written to the director of the Project
asking how I can get a copy of the CD booklet.)

Oh, my. Well, I've been a fan of Mark's for some years--since I went to see him,
at Dave Carter's suggestion-- and Jez Lowe & the Bad Pennies have been my
favorite band for even longer. And I've also liked Karine Polwart and Emily
Smith for a few years, and discovered Megson last year. The rest of the artists
were previously unfamiliar to me.

I'm very glad to have discovered them all. The songs range from "yes, this is
good" to "ooh, this is just what I love!" I'll have to listen a few more times
to be certain, but the whole thing is definitely in the running for my favorite
album of the year. Go get it!

My bad! I have uploaded and cataloged those months in the Archive, and

That was awesome. Thanks for posting it, Neil. I'd be great if Mark's
performance from the festival would be made available for purchase on DVD.

Hello

Thought you might like to see Troubadour Blues from Mark's set on the main stage
at Shrewsbury Folk Festival (28 August 2009).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSeE8y8vzEI

This is taken from the feed that goes to the screens in the main tent, and as a
result of this we (and the artists) end up with a DVD copy of their main stage
performances before they leave the festival.

The whole of Mark's show is excellent, but obviously we can only put the odd
song up online - it was a toss up between this or Roy Orbison's Crying that he
closed the set with.

best wishes
Neil

Don't know if I missed it in a news letter but I had no idea the song
Imaginary Wars was in a tv show until my daughter was watching the show
tonight. It is the American version of a BBC show called Skins... Anyway, she
screams and says " mom, its Mark Erelli's song, Imaginary Wars"
wahoo.. it was... I guess England is really coming round Mark!!
CONGRATULATIONS

Taylor has the show on DVR, so it probably aired in the last week, but she
says she will get all the details of its original airing and if the song
was in the original BBC show. I guess they have a few versions of the
show..it will air again this Saturday 4-5 pm on BBC America, the song is about
50
minutes into the show..

Congratulations Mark!!

Most of you on this list likely already know Mark's touring schedule better
than I, but I wanted to extend an invitation to all that might be
interested/able to come to our House Concert Friday 6 November in Palm Harbor
FL -
west-central FL/Pinellas County. I am quite excited to finally be able to
host Mark as part of our series. It is a wonderful setting and we are
expecting a full house. I would hold seats for any of his big fans, however,
coming from a distance. Just let me know. If you've never been to a House
Concert before, they are the most intimate way to experience a night of
music. This will be a very special evening. All proceeds go to Mark - I am
just the host.

You can get more information at: _www.ourkindoffolk.com_
(http://www.ourkindoffolk.com)

Mark will be stopping by WMNF, 88.5 FM, Community Radio that morning ~8:15,
to play a few songs and talk to host Cameron Dilley. You can pick that up
through _www.wmnf.org_ (http://www.wmnf.org) - and the shows are
archived if you can't listen live.

He is playing in SE FL, Coral Springs the next day, Saturday 7 November.

Went to a Josh Ritter headline show last night in Brighton, UK where Mark and
Zack Hickman were the band. It was a real high energy show with the sold out
crowd (140)really showing their appreciation and singing along to many of the
songs. Josh Ritter never stops smiling!

Mark got a solo slot (w/Zack) and performed 'Volunteer' and 'Five Beer Moon'
which went down really well with the audience.

Wonderful evening - it will go down as one of my gigs of the year (and I go to a
few!)

They have been supporting Ray LaMontagne on his UK tour and fitting in 3 Josh
headline shows - Brighton is home turf for me so it was great to see them in 'my
backyard' so to speak. Tonight and tomorrow they play support at the Royal
Albert Hall, London - Mark is getting the opportunity to play mandolin with Ray
LaM.

Great show last night in London. Nice crowd including extended family members.
Played two sets, about an hour and half in total.

First set:
1. Columbus Ohio (my husband's request)
2. Not Alone
3. Unravelled
4. Five Beer Moon
5. Volunteers
6. Imaginary Wars (on mandolin)
7. Troubadour Blues (Chris Smither played a nearby London venue last week -
Greg, more life
meets art!)
8. Kingdom Come
9. Pilgrim Highway

Second set:
10. Here and Now
11. Bend In The River (my request)
12. Once (dedicated to his son, told funny story about how many times he's sung
'Wheels on the Bus' for him in different styles - folk, bluegrass, even opera!)
13. Man of the Family (our friend Paul's request)
14. Basement Days
15. August
16. The Only Way

Encore
17. Here at the Right Time (Josh Ritter song - getting in practice for the
forthcoming UK tour in Josh's band, supporting Ray LaMontagne. Josh is doing a
few shows of his own as well so I'm hoping that when we see them in Brighton,
Mark is the opener).

More good news - Mark looks like coming back to the UK in the Spring :0)

I've just finished watching Mark's set from Shrewsbury Folk Festival via the
Internet stream and he was great. Very receptive audience so I think he's made a
lot of new fans and I hope that his CD sales go through the roof at the signing
tent.

This was the set list:
1. Not Alone
2. Unravelled
3. Volunteers
4. Five Beer Moon
5. Imaginary Wars
6. Troubadour Blues (Chris Smither is also playing the festival)
7. Delivered (with Karine Polwart)
8. Abraham
9. Passing Through (dedicated to Polly and Owen)
10. The Only Way
11. Cryin' (Roy Orbison cover)

Now that I'm back home after my US travels I thought that I'd post about Mark's
WoodyFest debut.

Introduced by MC Bill McCloud as 'The People's Choice' because he was the
overwhelming favourite in response to a question asking which musician, who
hadn't previously appeared at WFest would you like to see next year, when last
year's attendees completed the feedback forms, Mark took the stage at The
Crystal Theatre in what felt like triple digit heat indoors and out and
proceeded to wow the crowd!

Set list:
Dust Pneumonia Blues (Woody Guthrie)
I'm Not Alone
Unravelled
Volunteers (audience stunned, jaws dropped open)
Five Beer Moon
Kingdom Come (one of his Darwin Song Project songs)
Basement Days (new song 'for the lady from England' :0)
Troubadour Blues (name checks Woody)
Abraham
Passing Through (audience sing along)
The Only Way (heckled during the introduction to the song from the audience by
Ellis Paul who recorded this on his Essentials CD)

Encore:
Cowboy Singer (Dave Carter - honouring his memory on the anniversary of his
death, which was a few days later)

I know that I am a fan but he really did sing his heart out and was clearly
delighted to be performing at the former home of one of his heroes - Woody
Guthrie. His set was the highlight of the festival for me and I say that against
many other wonderful performances.

The audience reaction was amazing and I'm not the only one who hopes that he
gets a return invite next year.

....and better still, he's in the UK at the end of August so I get to go see him
again....and then he's back shortly thereafter with Josh Ritter. Life is good!

It's a song he co-wrote and performed with Karine Polwart;
Mother of Mysteries

There's one other song from the concert online (not featuring Mark), but it

Hello

Folk magazine website Spiral Earth have just listed video interviews with each
of the Darwin artists (Chris Wood, Karine Polwart, Jez Lowe, Mark Erelli, Emily
Smith, Rachael McShane, Krista Detor - not sure where Stu Hanna's video went!)

http://www.spiralearth.co.uk/video/default.asp?channel=/video/darwin.xml

These videos were recorded on the Monday of the songhouse week, and are
excellent interviews that show the thoughts of the artists in the middle of the
songwriting process.

If you've not heard Mark's songs from the song project, there are samples here

best wishes
Neil
