Hey folks,
I have asked this question earlier this month on a mail list related
to Mark and his music, with a couple good thoughts. Forgive the
cross-post, but I would like to know how you handle this...
One of these scenarios may have happened to you:
You're talking with a friend and the discussion turns to the
emptiness of the lyrical content of most contemporary music
(christian or otherwise) and you offer up a list of quality
songwriters which includes Mark Heard...
Or you're listening to some music in your office/cubicle/truck/etc
and it catches someone's attention and they ask who it is and you
tell them it's Mark Heard...
Or you're talking with someone who is feeling the weight of living
with grace within a fallen world or struggling with being real and as
you offer some words of encouragement or commiseration, a word
picture comes to mind that you pass along as being from a song by
Mark Heard ...
... and the next question, almost invariably, is Mark who?
What do you use to introduce people to Mark Heard and his music? Do
you pass along High Noon or do you steer them to some earlier works?
Do you point them to the Image article or some of John Fischer's
comments?
I'm curious how you answer, Mark who?
