Hi Albgardis;

Actually, Graciaella is not a spammer. She's a published music critic
who has been very positive towards Melanie and Melanie's music. She's a
great fan! I think letting her publicize her psychic-reading business
is an okay trade-off.....

No harm ~ No foul!

2009 will be fine.

Amongst many things for me 2008 was great. Bad things happened but
look at the elections in the USA. Let's have hope for a good future.

Thanks, all of you, my Melanie friends for your words and kindness.

> >Dearest Dia: Thanks for your sharing the text. I actually found
the CD and it was not at all like I thought I remembered it (The Gong
and the drums, etc. )But this is definitely the song I remember. I
seem to also recall Ian of Oz.The truth is my mind isn't what it used
to be. Of course nothing to do with swigging gallons of vodka, and
other less than good ideas along my way. However,I am still slightly
off the beam mentally, but quite sober and happily so. Bill, I did
not know you were the person who is doing the petition. Oh, I hope it
happens. This year being the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, would be
a great time.I have some friends that can add to the signing. I
understand it goes to 1000 R&R historians who make the vote for the
final nod.I know Melanie would be so honored to be remembered as one
of the major voices of the sixties. Baez,Mitchell, Collins, Slick- all
great ladies, but basically they grew up in the fifties.Melanie
blossomed at just the right time in her incredible uniqueness.
Off the subject, does anyone remember "Sweetwater", a band who
also played at Woodstock.I think they might have had impact, but that
they came upon lots of tragedy, and the young lady who was the lead
singer either got killed,or seriously injured.I am going to google
and see if their performance was on Woodstock two. At one time I had
the video of Melanie and the acts who sang on Friday, the first day
of Woodstock.
Anyway, tomorrow is Christmas Eve. Among my other endeavors, I am
a church organist and we plan a program of music and message. My
favorite song from Antlers is "Old Tin Star", which I was going to
sing at church and decided not to.
Anyway, if you celebrate Christmas, I wish you joy and perpetual
contentment! It's great to see alot of people posting.
Can't wait to see if Melanie will play Ny this year. Ireally can't
afford to fly to Korea! (but I will if need be).

Efren, at first I thought I had never heard this but later I
understood I do know this version from the site mentioned by Mike Da Bear.
And what did I find somewhere? A transcription of the song and I think
it is transcribed by our dear lost friend Ian of Oz. (Ian hope you are
well and things have taken a turn..) so here are the words of the long
version of Isn't it a pity aka Tomorrow is cancelled:

Isn't it a pity

Melanie: Umm, does somebody (laughs) have a dollar they can lend me to
do the next song?
I need two.
(laughs) I'm an expensive act now, you've got to give me two! *****
Voice in audience: **** (you were only) a dollar....
Melanie: (laughs) He knew me when I was a dollar!
Peter: You got the money baby?
Melanie: Yeah, baby! *****

Isn't it a pity that I'm not the prettiest girl in the world
'cause sometimes I feel, when I kick up my heels in the sun,
I'm the loveliest one.

And isn't it a crime that there's nothing on my mind
worth a mention in a rhyme or a line of a play,
protesting the rise of conformity in mankind?
*** it a pity ***** the prettiest girl in the world.
******

Oh those womanly slobs that gather in mobs,
and drown in their coke,
and smother in smoke,
and (laugh?) in their beer,
and smear the name of their friends --
you know where they'll go in the end?
If it were up to me do you know where they'd dwell?
Hmmm?
In heaven!
It became a (latter day/modern day) hell.
Well...

Isn't it a pity that I'm not the prettiest girl in the world,
'cause sometimes I feel, when I kick up my heels in the sun,
I'm the loveliest one.

"Tomorrow will be cancelled" --
I think that's what he said.
"All of you who live today,
tomorrow you'll be dead," he said.
"Tomorrow will be cancelled?"
I took this letter hard.
He signed it unpretentiously,
"Affectionately, God". (Grunt)

Oh you're one of my kind so I sure don't mind
if you laugh at my song 'cause ********

Oh there's nothing (going on/very wrong) with me,
can't you see
that I'm just a little bit crazy!
Ah ha ha...

Oh isn't it a pity that I'm not the prettiest girl in the world,
'cause sometimes I feel when I kick up my heels in the sun,
I'm the loveliest one.
Yeah, I *******

I think my favorite song other than Tonight's the Kind of Night, would be John Lennon's, And So This Is Christmas!!
I feel so sad every time I hear it.  He died too young!!!

Mike,

I surely do have a favorite Christmas song. Simple though it may be, Silent Night never fails to move me to tears. Friends always tell me to bring tissue to the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

Hate to say it, but Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer drives me to the point of distraction. :-)

I forgot the last three songs:

* Coventry Carol - soothing those Melanie voices, want to hear
this for a long time.
* True Believer - rock version, like it, fits better
* King Wenceslaus - rock version and I am dancing around my
room, hugging my Christmas tree

Spunky Funky Melanie Junkie - Dear Mike

Here are my thoughts on Antlers/Yes Santa there is a Melanie:

• Ships in the harbour – when Christmas comes once and for all –
haunting melody, hopeful,
• Virgin Mary – soft, gentle song sung likewise
• It's Christmas – very cheerful and joyfull, when you hear this song
you just want it to be Christmas and you'd like to be with Melanie to
celebrate this party
• King Wenceslaus – love the sound of the guitar and the rhythm, I
just want to dance around
• Three Ships – love her voice on this – kind of hoarse, as moved
• Tin Star – beautiful
• Silent Night – great, wonderful, wonderful guitar, beautiful vibrato
in Melanie's voice
• True Believers – sweet
• Come on ye faithfull – one of my favorite Christmas songs that I
never think of but now when I hear Melanie sing it I am moved and I
love her voice singing it, I love the harmonies. Is it Melanie and
children singing?
• Hallelujah – love it, have always loved this song and love how
Melanie seems to enjoy singing this beautiful hymn
• Christmas Lullaby – this is a Melanie jewel, the Melanie who
questions herself and her motives, she loves someone she cannot be
with and she would trade all to be with this person
• Tonight's the kind of Night – Melanie's ultimate Christmas song, you
just want to be there or have a mother and father who will give you
these gifts and you want to sing along
• Marvelous Joy – cute, childlike, sweet, Americana,
• We wish you a Merry Christmas – love this sweet cheerful Melanie wish
• What child is this – One of my old favorites, used to sing it myself
in Dutch in the Youth Choir I was in and I love just to hear Melanie
and guitars
• The first Noel – also one of my old favorites and Melanie does it
all credit and I am thankful she recorded this beauty in her own
wonderful way
• O Holy night – her voice is so vulnerable in this song, I just want
to hug this voice and hold it close to me, it brings tears to my eyes,
I think this could very well be my favorite from Antlers/Yes, Santa,
there is a Melanie. This is, listen to her voice soaring in the Mid
December sky, the angels sang with Melanie's voice, she is an angel here.

I understand Mike's initial question in this thread and basically agree
with Dia. This spin-off "General Discussions" site was created for a
place for us to chat about stuff with little or no Melanie "content",
in order to keep the Official Forum totally Melanie.

Yes, sometimes this site gets quiet. Sometimes the Official one does
too....but I don't think it has any immediate effect on whether or not
the site(s) should become "questionable" as to their future...

This Yahoo site serves a useful purpose: Where us friends can chat
freely about whatever we want!
