Anyone interested in starting a professional co-ed a Cappella group?
I'm new to the area, moving to DC from Boston and looking to start a
kick-butt, in-your-face a Cappella group. If tight harmony, exciting
and challenging songs and arrangements, and having a lot of fun are
what you look for in a group, then contact me!
I am not familiar with the scene here, but if I get enough responses
then I will hold auditions as soon as possible and we'll get this bad
larry off the ground....
Best way to reach me: jenellis@...
Thanks!
Jenn Ellis
I'm sorry folks -
I did a bad bad thing. I auditioned for another group and I made it.
So I won't be starting a group anytime soon. But hey, you guys don't
need me to start one, you can do it on your own! And if you do please
let me know so I can come to your concerts and stuff!!!
So so sorry...
Jenn Ellis
I would like to know about existing acappella groups in West Virginia.
I would like to join a group within commute of Weston. I tried the
barbershop group in Fairmont and I loved their blend of voices, but
I didn't get home from rehearsal until midnight, and that's too late
for my early work schedule. I am primarily interested in contemporary
acappella rather than barbershop. I sing baritone and bass.
Greetings fellow crooners!
Ted Donat here, Musical Director of dcVocals. Wanted to put the word out on
the street that dcVocals, a coed a cappella group that performs in the DC
area, is looking for men in all voice parts. dcVocals' latest claim to fame
is that two weeks ago, we performed for Mr. Rogers at a semi-retirement
sendoff hosted by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting! It was a great
honor to sing for one of our childhood heroes...
If you or someone you know is interested, please have them check out our web
site at www.dcvcocals.com. It has FAQ's and contact info for dcVocals, or
they can e-mail me at tdonat@....
Hope to see you all at the Harmony Sweepstakes on Saturday night at GWU's
Lisner Auditorium (I am one of the esteemed (?) judges) and at the
Afterglow, which dcVocals is hosting at Froggy Bottom (2142 Pennsylvania
Ave, NW).
Thank you!

Rob--greetings. Saw you guys at the mixed barbershop show in KC. Great job.
(Also, I thought "Shenandoah" by the Denver A CAppella Project was the best
thing I heard all week!) Does JazzKats have a CD or tape available?

Hi all,
My name is Rob Baltensberger, bass singer in JazzKatz. I spotted your
Egroup and thought I would join to keep abreast of A Cappella
happenings back east. I was born in Abington Pa but now live in the
mountains west of Denver, sorta like the Poconos only higher.
JazzKatz is comprised of me and my wife Rosemary, Linne Bueche, and
Ryan Wilson. We are three years old and do mostly vocal jazz. Our
web page is under construction but readable. Come visit us.
We were just informed that we qualified for the Denver Sweeps on March
24th.
Glad to meet you all.

Plenty of local and national a cappella talent will be performing
this
weekend at Celebrate Fairfax!, more humbly known to most of us as the
Fairfax Fair. On Friday night, enjoy both The DC Accidentals (6:30
pm, The Center Spotlight) and **Rockapella** (7:15 pm, The Birchmere
Stage). If Saturday's better for you, there's Ball In The House
(2:30
pm, The Michelob Light Stage), the Virginia Ham Barbershop Quartet
(2:45 pm, The Center Spotlight and 5:00 pm, The 4th Street Cafe), and
an encore performance by The DC Accidentals (7:00 pm, The Center
Spotlight). If Sunday's your only day to enjoy the festivities,
you're still in luck, with The Humbuckers performing at 1:45 pm on
The
Michelob Light Stage. Come on out and join us all -- and be sure to
get there early, so you won't miss a note! For more information,
check the Celebrate Fairfax! website at www.fairfaxfair.com.
Hi -- I just changed my email address and would like you to delete
kmreynolds@... from the list membership. Unfortunately I no longer
have access to that account because my computer support people shut it off
without warning, but if you sent a test email to kmreynolds@...
you'll see it bounces back. My new email is krlewis@..., and I joined
the group under that name already. Thanks! Kakki Reynolds Lewis
And it's free!
Come downtown on Sunday, July 29th, to the Lincoln Memorial for the

the 2002 season. To join Savoy and help continue the tradition we began in
1901 performing the works of Gilbert and Sullivan, please come to one of our
recruitment events, the first of which is this Friday night. If you can't

January. Rehearsals and pre-production begins in late January/early February
for our Spring 2002 production, Princess Ida. Email me if you are
interested and I can send you more information about Savoy, the process of
auditioning, and/or this Friday night's event.
The Savoy Mission Statement
The Savoy Company, a non-profit theatrical organization, promotes community

charitable organizations through an annual production of one of the thirteen
extant works of Gilbert and Sullivan.
Savoy's amateur membership is a diverse group of volunteers drawn from the
Greater Delaware Valley area. Members are committed to developing the
highest quality theatrical production and in so doing, sharing the artistic,
musical and cultural influences of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. The
Company's 100 year history places it in a unique position within the
community, and offers opportunities for personal growth and community
reinvestment for its members, beneficiaries and audiences.
GOOD REASONS TO JOIN SAVOY :
