Although they start a brief tour in upstate New York, The Bobs will
swing through the midatlantic area next week for a RHAPSODY IN BOB
show in Northern Maryland.

Here's the schedule:

THURSDAY 10/6
CAFFE LENA
Saratoga Springs, NY
http://www.caffelena.com/
tix: 518-583-0022

The Bobs return to their favorite new haunt. And I'm pretty sure Amy
Bob won't turn down cheese gifts from Putnam Market! Come on down to
this intimate listening room for a full dose of closeup Bobs fun.

FRIDAY 10/7
LYCIAN CENTRE FOR THE ARTS
Sugar Loaf, NY
http://www.lyciancentre.com/
tix: 845-469-2287

No, silly, there aren't more carbs in a Sugar Loaf Bobs show than in a
show anywhere else! This lovely theater, nestled under Sugar Loaf
Mountain in New York's picturesque Orange County (not to be confused
with THE O.C. of Southern California), is a comfortable and beautiful
drive from Northern New Jersey. Come on up!

SATURDAY 10/8
CECIL COMMUNITY COLLEGE - Note: This is a RHAPSODY IN BOB show
North East, MD
http://cecilcc.edu/events/calendars/theatre.asp
tix: 410.287.1000

Let the Gershwin begin! The Bobs (and special guest Bob Malone)
bring their RHAPSODY IN BOB program to Northern Maryland, featuring a
program of classics that rock and classic rock. The evening
culminates in their spectacular, unique arrangement of Gershwin's
masterpiece, RHAPSODY IN BLUE for piano and The Bobs - as a vocal
orchestra.

ATTENTION MUSIC EDUCATORS!!!!

Did you know that The Bobs do workshop program for kids - and adults?

The Bobs have an informal, adaptable presentation style in their
educational program that mirrors their concerts, inviting interaction,
grooving, and just plain fun. This gives them an unparalleled ability
to connect with many different age groups, with or without musical
training or experience. If you are interested in having The Bobs come
to your school/organization and do a workshop/clinic/lecture-demo when
they return to the mid-Atlantic in November, drop a line!

Hi Dorrie,

Are you willing to consider folks within commuting distance of B'more? I'm in
Newark, Delaware (approx 1 hour drive). Sang 2nd Alto with Out of the Blue at
Duke as an undergrad (in the 80s.... time FLIES!), and think I still can, but
have noticed my range is creeping back upward and I'd be comfortable with 1st
Alto or 2nd Sop, methinks. :)

Would be glad to discuss it further depending on your answer to the first
question. Either way, good luck-- sounds like fun!

Take care,
Tara

Okay, this is a long shot...

Does anyone know of a DC-area location where BlueLine, an a cappella jazz
sextet, could rehearse on Sunday afternoon from about 1-5 pm? Preferably for
free or a nominal fee?

We have a mini-retreat planned this Sunday and are striking out on the usual
suspects for rehearsal space. All we need is heat and space for six bodies,
although a resonant acoustic would certainly be a plus. We live in Silver
Spring, Gaithersburg, Bethesda, Potomac, and Alexandria, so anywhere
relatively near any of those places would work.

Please save us from rehearsing in my basement!! (Our usual rehearsal spot.)

Hello all --

Just dropping a note to say hello and briefly introduce myself. I'm a
Baltimore-based mezzo (classically trained, BM from New England Conservatory, MM
from Indiana University) who works as a writer/historian and public speaker and
is looking to find or build a versatile group to sing with.

My perfect a cappella group would be adventurous and skilled enough to do
everything from Monteverdi and Debussy to standards to spirituals to, oh, I
dunno, maybe we could arrange some Radiohead or something. But I'm willing to
start smaller and see where things go, of course.

Anyway, I've always maintained that singing a cappella is the most fun you can
have with your clothes on, and I miss it! So I look forward to hearing about
what's going on in the region and hopefully to finding my way to a group sooner
or later.

Cheers,
Hanne

I'm a classicly trained soprano (can also do mezzo) interested in

go for co-ed too. I've done early music/baroque music in college,
working with Julianne Baird. But I also did opera, and all kinds of

Groove Society, a Denver-based professional jazz/R&B sextet with a
growing national reputation, is looking for a new alto. We work
extensively in Colorado and are scheduled to headline at major jazz
festivals around the mainland U.S. and Hawaii.

Interested candidates must have a superior solo voice, a strong
understanding of all jazz styles, be capable of singing dissonant
harmonies, and be willing to relocate to Denver. At least some
college experience is required.

We are a new co-ed a cappella group who is looking for more men (3
tenors and 3 basses) and a vocal percussionist. So far the age range
is from about 23-35 but we are not limiting ourselves in age.

We are still in the planning stages, so you haven't missed much. If
you are interested in finding out more and would like to come to our
next meeting, e-mail me and let me know!

A competition barbershop quartet in Piedmont, North Carolina seeks a seasoned or gifted baritone to replace one who valued his marriage more than his quartet (silly man).

Age is unimportant; we care about your ear for the chords, and your gift for song, not your birthday.  With this ensemble, lots of reasonance and a solid top range would be ideal (but since when does the ideal person just wander in?).

If you are interested, drop me an eline.
