RHAPSODY IN BOB - THE BOBS' 13th CD
Order at http://cdbaby.com/cd/thebobs

The Bobs’ RHAPSODY IN BOB features a classic that truly rocks and
classic rock from the most creative group to vocally reinvent cover
tunes. Rhapsody in Blue premiered in New York in 1924 in a program
called “An Experiment in Modern Music” alongside pieces incorporating
barnyard calls and a tin can. George Gershwin originally called the
piece American Rhapsody because it was such a melting pot of varied
musical elements. So, what better group of artists to revisit this
auspicious beginning than The Bobs, with a killer combination of vocal
chops, Grammy-nominated arranging, and an inscrutable sense of humor
that makes them impossible to categorize? Tallest Bob Ever Dan
Schumacher (formerly of Kickshaw) debuts with The Bobs (replacing
tenor Joe Finetti) on brand new recordings of six cover tunes ranging
from Kurt Weill to Tom Petty to a new Bobs version of Cream’s White Room.

Here's a review of the CD:

All,

Ted Donat here - Regional Director of the Mid-Atlantic Sweeps.

As some of you know, for the last two years I have been playing with
a band called The Slow Burn. We are a four-piece two guitars,
bass and drums and we play original rock and roll. To give you an
idea of our style, here is our "elevator pitch" (hey, I'm a
marketing guy!): "The Slow Burn is melodic rock with an edge, for a
generation raised on great songwriting and punk attitude, spanning
the chasms from John Lennon to Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley to Aimee
Mann, Joe Strummer to Jeff Tweedy." (Hopefully you recognized at
least one of those names! If you recognized them all, go have a
mojito, you pop-culture savant, you!)

Personally, we are all professionals and Dads, so we are muy
simpatico when it comes to the work-family-music-life balance! We
really enjoy each other's company, and I think that really comes
through in our music.

Here's some news for you:

IOTA SHOW:

Please join us on August 29th at the legendary Arlington venue
IOTA! Local favorites Debris will be opening for us. The show
starts at 8:30. We need a good turnout for this show, so if you

For information on the club, head on over to

OUR NEW CD:

We are putting the finishing touches on a CD called "Let's Do It!"
I am really proud and honored to be a part of this, and I truly feel
that it is the best musical document I have ever been a part of.
Because of my long history of a cappella singing and producing, I
take the vocals on any recording I am involved with very seriouly,
and this album is no exception.

The CD should be ready in about a month. In the meantime, you can
reserve a copy for the special price of only $10. When the CD is
generally available, the price will go up to $15. So you will save
umlikefive dollars!

To hear samples of the music, read more about the band and reserve
your copy of the CD, surf on over to www.theslowburn.com and click
on "Buy". While you are there, please sign our guestbook!

You should also check out www.myspace.com/theslowburnrocks
just `cuz.

If you are not into the whole online transaction thing, you can send
a check for $12.25 ($10 plus $2.25 domestic shipping) payable
to "Edward Donat" (my real, actual, parent-given name) to me at:

3817 Prince William Drive
Fairfax, VA 22031

We will acknowledge receipt of your payment and will shoot you a
copy the very moment the CD is done!

Remember, this offer expires when the CD is officially released!

We will be announcing the details of our CD release party soon, so
stay tuned for that!

Special Bonus: Know somebody in the music biz? We'll send you a

The Washington-area sextet BlueLine is looking for a first soprano and a low
bass who can blend, keep time, and learn parts quickly. Sight-reading,
conducting and arranging skills are especially welcome but not required.
PLEASE help us out and forward this email to anyone who might be interested.

BlueLine is a semi-professional group - it's an outlet for our combined
musical passions, but stops short of being a full-time career. That said,
we're very proud of the high level of musicianship and entertainment we
bring to audiences throughout the greater Washington DC area. Weve enjoyed
participating in the mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes in past years,
performing in music series at Coolfont Resort and local retail joints,
singing for private parties and nursing home residents, and putting on joint
concerts with other area a cappella groups, including the Augmented Eight,
Take Note!, and the Tone Rangers. We're in the midst of producing our first
CD.

We consider ourselves a fun and energetic group that performs a wide variety
of complex arrangements with tight harmonies. We rehearse weekly in Bethesda
(usually Sunday nights) and gig roughly once a month. Our repertoire
includes jazz standards, pop tunes, gospel songs and original
songs/arrangements.

Anyone interested in auditioning should email Ashley at
ashley@... or call her at (301) 565-0348. See
http://www.bluelinedc.com/ for more about us or feel free to email me any
questions.

Come and see a free show! The DC Accidentals will be performing in the
Theater Lab from approximately 6:00 to 7:00 pm this Sunday, Dec. 3rd.
This is the Millennium Stage show for that day, but due to the Kennedy
Center Honors program later that evening, we are out of the lobby and
up on the second floor (aka on the "Shear Madness" stage). Lots of
holiday songs and regular repertoire too!
The show itself is free -- but parking at the KenCen never is, so think
Metro if you want to save those $$$ (Foggy Bottom/GWU stop, and a free
Kennedy Center Shuttle from there).
Hope to see lots of area a cappella fans there -- and if you're too far
away to come in person, the KenCen webcasts the performance, so point
your browsers there and enjoy!
