I'm looking for partners to help me form Harrisburg's premier close-harmony
vocal ensemble. I'm envisioning a mixed (SATB) quartet or octet of youthful
voices singing lighthearted a cappella or lightly-accompanied arrangements
appropriate to a Harrisburg audience. Impeccable sense of pitch and ability to
hold one's own part is a must, as is a commitment to attend weekly rehearsals.

About me: I'm a semi-professional musician, although not primarily a vocalist.
I was trained as a music teacher and worked in that field for several years.
I've been singing for as long as I can remember and began formal training almost
30 years ago. I sing baritone or tenor as the need arises. My influences
include Manhattan Transfer, The B-52s, 5th Dimension, Sixth Wave, etc.

I have ideas about the kinds of things the group should do, but I don't want it
to become a one-man show, I'm open to suggestions and ideas. This is all still
very much in the pre-planning stages, so please contact me if you'd like to get
involved on the ground floor.

the King Street metro. We start at 7PM, but come a little early and we'll tell

ensemble within the Harmonizers, Cameron Station, recently won the audience
favorite award at the Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes, held at the Birchmere in
Alexandria. Our repertoire is quite broad, and we sing arrangements in styles
ranging from barbershop, to college/contemporary a cappella, to classical. Many
us have college a cappella experience.

AM/FM has been an a cappella men's group in Montgomery County, MD for over 4 1/2 years. We've had a gospel and patriotic focus. We've been performing mostly at nursing homes and hospitals, as well as for our military. Now we're adding other a cappella favorites originally done by artists like the Beach Boys and Billy Joel, and extending where we perfom to other venues.

We've recently been granted a permit by the City of Rockville to be street performers in the new downtown area. But we can't keep it staffed with our current membership at the level I'd like. So we're reaching out and looking for other men to join us.

We meet in Gaithersburg, MD, on Tuesday nights, from 7 to 9 PM. If you're a man who likes to sing and interested in joining a group ministry like this, drop by at the Gaithersburg Church of the Nazarene this Tuesday night and give it a try. We'd like to have at least a quartet able to go and perform someplace at least once a week. Sometimes it will be the whole group, other times maybe only four.

Sincerely,
John W. Hosie III

Euphonism, a DC metro area based co-ed vocal band, is currently seeking a new fabulous female!

We sing a variety of pop, R&B and rock covers as well as original music  - all a cappella. We perform an average of 1-2 times per month and rehearse twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.  Altos and Sopranos are equally welcome - we are looking for someone who will be a positive addition to our group in vocal abilities and beyond. Those interested in auditioning should be able to demonstrate:

 * confident solo vocals
 * blending abilities for backup vocals
 * comfortable and natural stage presence
 * the ability to learn new music quickly (sightreading a plus!)
 * the dedication to regularly attend twice weekly rehearsals
 * the desire to perform regularly (we have monthly standing shows and one time events, both local and some travel)
 * a positive attitude about rehearsing, performing and being part of a talented, fun group :)

Other perks we are keeping eye out for (not absolutely necessary, but would definitely be a plus!):
 * knowledge of music theory/arranging experience
 * HTML, graphic design or other creative abilities
 * ability to produce creative percussive sounds (with your mouth of course!)

As a semi-professional group, Euphonism members are unpaid, however, opportunities for paid performances exist within our networks for those interested in professional opportunities.

The first round of auditions will be be held the evening of Sunday, June 7 in Arlington (Courthouse neighborhood).
If you are interested in scheduling an audition, please contact Amanda at amanda@... or mpanda19@... as soon as possible.

Hi!

Our A Cappella Showcase Chorus, based in Frederick, MD, were fortunate to have Vocal Dente headline our annual show on their USA Tour recently.  They were enthusiastically received by our show audience,  We would definitely recommend them to any a cappella groups out there on their return.  They are incredible musicians and very entertaining as well.

As most of you know, they won the Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes here last year and went on to win the National Harmony Sweepstakes in LA.  They are first class a cappella!

We still have a limted supply of their first CD, Let's Misbehave.  These are all autographed and will be a collector's item for sure as they get more exposure in our great country.

HARMONIZATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION, by far DC's best all-male a cappella group
whose twelve-syllable name references a popular Revolutionary-era rallying cry,
is holding auditions on a rolling basis; first-come, first-served.

You should tryout if:

1) You enjoy singing in a smallish, all-male a cappella group; and
2) You've got time to rehearse once a week in downtown DC and gig once or twice
per month in the DC metro area (we've performed recently in DC, VA and MD).

All voice parts are welcome.

But enough about you. Let's talk about us:

We're a bunch of fun-loving guys who have singing experience with some of the
nation's premiere collegiate a cappella groups, including Michigan Amazin' Blue,
Harvard Callbacks, Oxford Out of the Blue (actually, this one's international),
The Pitchforks of Duke University, Zack Attack (featuring the hit song "Friends

Hi A cappella fans!

Padi, from the Chromatics here. Just wanted to let you guys know about the
concert we will be hosting August 8th in Kensington, MD, with our special guest,
Canadian singer-songwriter Mike Evin. Below is the announcement we sent to our
mailing list. Hope to see some of you there, and apologies if you've gotten this

House Kensington. If you're a local group considering recording soon, you could
come check out the studio, and enjoy a double header concert as well!

All the best,

**********

Dear Chromie Fans,

Thanks to all who came out to see us this month in Bethesda and/or
Rehoboth. We're delighted that the weather held out and we had a great
time singing for enthusiastic and cheerful crowds.

Today we're excited to announce a special concert we're hosting later
this summer. We're pleased to be performing an intimate acoustic studio
concert on August 8th, 2009 at 8pm at Blue House Studios in Kensington,
Maryland, featuring our special guest, the unique and inspiring
Montreal-based singer-songwriter Mike Evin. Some of the Chromatics had
the pleasure of discovering the wonders of Mike on the Barenaked Ladies
Ships'n'Dip cruise in February. And so did the rest of the ship -- by the
end of the week, Mike was the talk of the boat and his shows were
jam-packed with new fans.

CBC Radio says "Mike Evin is a rarity -- a pop composer who isn't afraid
to use his wit or wear his heart for all to hear." Or, as fellow piano
popster Dan Bryk puts it, "Mike possesses phenomenal hooks, and truly
awesome stride-y piano chops -- that is, when he's not finger-snapping
and hand-clapping the audience into some otherworldly bliss."

Otherworldly? We can do otherworldly. So we'll be splitting the bill with
Mike at Blue House Productions' new studio/performance space in Kensington,
MD. We fell in love with this warm, sonically-designed space the moment
we set foot in it, and we're sure you will too.

Would you like to join us at this intimate double concert? If you're
interested, please reserve your tickets by one of the methods below soon.
There are a limited number of tickets and we expect the house to fill up!

We look forward to sharing Mike Evin with you at Blue House Kensington!

   -- Padi, for The Chromatics

Tickets are $15. Reserve by sending Email to alansmale@..., or by
leaving a message at 410-451-0671, including full contact information.
We will get back to you as soon as we can to confirm, and get tickets to
locals (otherwise, we'll have them waiting at will-call.)
The concert location is 4213 Howard Ave., Kensington MD.

concert on August 8th, 2009 at 8pm at Blue House Studios in Kensington,
Maryland, featuring our special guest, the unique and inspiring
Montreal-based singer-songwriter Mike Evin.

Some of the Chromatics had the pleasure of discovering the wonders of
Mike on the Barenaked Ladies Ships'n'Dip cruise in February. And so did
the rest of the ship -- by the end of the week, Mike was the talk of the
boat and his shows were jam-packed with new fans.

CBC Radio says "Mike Evin is a rarity -- a pop composer who isn't afraid
to use his wit or wear his heart for all to hear."

Would you like to join us at this intimate double concert?

Tickets are $15. Reserve by sending Email to alansmale@..., or by
leaving a message at 410-451-0671, including full contact information.
We will get back to you as soon as we can to confirm, and get tickets to
locals (otherwise, we'll have them waiting at will-call.)
The concert location is 4213 Howard Ave., Kensington MD.
