New to the list with Casio DG20 questions.   Message List

Hello, I'm new to the list from Phoenix, AZ. I don't have much experience
with midi, as my experience is with acoustic instruments, mainly guitar and
autoharp, and other instruments after that in playing ability. I've recently
acquired a Casio DG20 midi guitar from EBay, after hearing about it on the
HBO series Flight Of The Conchords. My brother and I went halves on it, and
really enjoy it. However, it's hard to play, because I can't get the string
tention right. I had it just right before, but the voltage regulator inside
had to be replaced here in town, and when I got it back, the allen key for
string two had slipped. I tried redoing the headstock by undoing all of the
keys and putting it back together. Now the string tention is correct but the
action is too high. I have to take a trade-off, good action and loose
strings, or high action and good strings. to top it all off, while fiddling
with all of this, one of the strings broke. The manual says to use nylon
strings of the same gauge for all strings, string B, and that's string 2. I
can't figure out how the strings are anchored, whether those six loops are
part of the strings themselves or part of the instrument. I don't know if
you're supposed to take off the piece with the two screws on the side where
it exposes those loops and the wiring, or if you're supposed to be able to
change strings by only removing the sliding cover in front of the screw-on
cover. So does anyone have any suggestions, and by a long shot, does anyone
live here in or near Phoenix who could help?
Thanks a lot.
Matthew
