not trying to be sarcastic or funny.  This is serious.  It's below:

You may or may not have heard the speculation of Green Day splitting
up.
  Unfortunately, the reports are true. It is unclear to us the exact
nature of the split, however, Billie Joe Armstrong has made clear his
intentions to delay the press conference until the contract opt-out
options are finalized.

Greenday.net has been handed over to Warner Bros and Greenday.com is
already owned by them so we are unsure of the future of the Idiot
Club
and the forum.

We will keep you updated as more news is available.



We still have a chance.  Pick up your pens, it's time to start
writing.  We need to bombard their fan mail box with letters, we
cannot let them split.  We still have a say.  I know I couldn't face
myself in the mirror if I let the best band fall apart, because,
without Green Day, who do we have left?  No one. There is no band
that can fill those shoes.  There is no one who can meet their
calibur of music, writing, or antics; they are the last mainstream
band who have the true spirit of rock 'n' roll.  If we let them fall,
we might as well as spit on Joey Ramone's grave, because we are
killing the dream that he brought forth.  Friends, this is bigger
than just one band, or just a CD, this is a revolution: the
revolution of the minority.  Maybe I'm taking it too far, but I'm not
gonna dig around to find another band to fill their space.  That's
right: I'm lazy!  But I know that something like Green Day only comes
around every once in a while, and I'll work to save that.  If you are
with me, then tell Billie, Mike, and Tre to pull it together and get
to what they're good at: rock 'n' roll!  Their fanmail address is

<br><br>Prominent musicians across the nation today launched a
nationwide grassroots effort to stop the Senate from passing
the dangerous energy plan which oil lobbyists helped
write. Musicians and tens of thousands of their fans
will be contacting their Senators to tell them to vote
against the plan, which has already won approval from the
House.<br><br>"Drilling in our last wild places like the Arctic Refuge?
Risking Three Mile Islands with more nuclear power? That
thinking is as old as fossil fuels. We would all benefit
from a plan inclusive of environmental conservation,
fuel efficiency and alternative energy sources,"says
Mike Diamond of the Beastie Boys, who has been
organizing members of the music community in this effort,
called the New Power Project, since last
May.<br><br>Starting on February 11th, dozens of well-known musicians
will mobilize their fans by encouraging them to visit
the www.saveourenvironment.org/newpower site where
they can send a free fax to their senators about the
plan. Kevin Richardson (of the Backstreet Boys), REM,
the Roots and Live join the effort that has already
included the Beastie Boys, Barenaked Ladies, Tom Petty &
the Heartbreakers, Dave Matthews Band, Blues
Traveler, Moby, Trey Anastasio (from Phish), Jackson
Browne, Alanis Morissette, James Taylor and
others.<br><br>The Energy Plan being considered by the Senate was
passed in the House last year, after heavy lobbying by
the oil drilling industry. The plan calls for
drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other
public lands, weakening the Clean Air Act, and
increasing subsidies to coal and nuclear industries. An
alternative bill is being proposed by Senate Majority Leader
Tom Daschle (D - S.D.) that would prohibit drilling
in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge, invest in clean
energy and raise fuel efficiency standards.<br><br>By
raising fuel economy standards for new cars, SUVs, and
trucks to 40 mpg, we would save four million barrels of
oil a day by 2020 – more oil than we import from the
Persian Gulf each day and could expect to get from
drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, combined!
America needs an energy plan that emphasizes efficiency
and conservation. The New Power Project artists
believe that is the kind of plan the Senate should

<br><br>Bastions of '90s punk Green Day and Blink-182 will embark
on a co-headlining jaunt, beginning April 17 in
Bakersfield, California. The 41-city Pop Disaster Tour will
continue through June 17 in Minneapolis, according to a
tour publicist. Venues have yet to be hammered
out.<br><br>Jimmy Eat World will tag along for the first half of
the tour, and Saves the Day have come aboard for the
second bunch of dates, Blink singer/guitarist Tom
DeLonge revealed on "TRL" Wednesday (February 13). Local
bands and lesser-known acts chosen by the headliners
will comprise the fourth band on the bill.<br><br>The
outing marks the first tour of the new year for
Blink-182, whose third single, "First Date," from last
year's Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, continues to be a
hit at radio and video outlets.<br><br>Before
commencing the trek, Blink singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge and
drummer Travis Barker might be a little road weary
already. The pair, along with Over My Dead Body guitarist
Dave Kennedy, is expected to tour behind the debut
album from the side-project Boxcar Racer, according to
an MCA Records publicist, though dates have yet to
be sorted out (see "Blink-182's Tom DeLonge Salutes
His Roots On New Album").<br><br>Green Day will wrap
a five-date tour of Japan on April 4 in Osaka
before creating Pop Disaster with their pogo-ing
brethren. The Bay Area trio are hitting the road on the
heels of their greatest-hits collection, last year's
International Superhits! which also features two new songs,
"Maria" and "Poprocks & Coke." Those tracks, as well as
three untitled songs that were posted on the group's
Web site (greenday.net) in November (see "Green Day
Offer Preview Of Demos Online"), are expected to make
their live debuts. A new album consisting of B-sides
and rarities is expected in summer. <br><br>Pre-sale
